ROLE SUMMARY

The Head of Design Engineering will oversee the entire design process, ensuing compliance with performance, reliability and sustainability requirements.

This role requires a strong understanding of data center infrastructure and a proven track record of leading successful design projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the technical and strategic leadership for all multi-disciplinary data center design functions, setting the vision and direction across civil, mechanical, electrical, and mission-critical engineering domains.
• Develop organizational capability at scale, mentoring the team and driving a culture of technical excellence, safety, sustainability, innovation, and continuous improvement across the region.
• Establish and govern enterprise-wide design standards and frameworks, ensuring consistency, scalability, and compliance from concept initiation through detailed engineering, construction, and operational integration.
• Oversee portfolio-level project governance, including capital planning, budgeting, risk management, and strategic resource allocation across multiple projects and concurrent development pipelines.
• Influence and align key external and internal stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, consultants, PMCs, general contractors, agencies, and OEM partners to ensure strategic alignment, execution integrity, and delivery performance.
• Partner directly with executive and leadership teams to shape long-term infrastructure strategy, define project priorities, and guide high-impact technical decisions that support business growth and operational resilience.
• Provide oversight throughout construction and commissioning, ensuring design intent is fully realized through site governance, technical validation, risk mitigation, final handover, and seamless transition to Operations.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil, Building, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; and professional certifications are highly preferred.
• Minimum 15–20 years of progressive experience in data center or mission-critical facility design and construction.
• Strong technical expertise in data center infrastructure, including mechanical and electrical systems, redundancy topologies, power distribution, liquid cooling, fire protection, BMS, and compliance with building codes and standards.
• Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams in fast-paced, results-driven environments.
• Experience managing projects across APAC or global markets, with comfort in region-wide travel.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in dynamic environments, managing multiple priorities with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Strong executive presence, with excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Demonstrated resilience and adaptability in a multi-cultural teams and business environments.
