Job description
Role Purpose:

Role Purpose: The medium voltage (MV) Switchgear Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, monitoring, control, and successful closure of all medium voltage (22kV & 6.6kV) switchgear projects within Singapore. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhering to the highest safety and quality standards, and meeting all client specifications. These individual leads and coordinates cross‑functional teams involved in sales handover, engineering, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee and manage multiple MV switchgear projects concurrently from contract award through final client handover and closeout, ensuring alignment with project scope, timelines, and budget constraints. Coordinate with clients, consultants, and OEMs during factory acceptance test, site acceptance test and commissioning.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource loaded timelines using project management tools.
  • Budget & Financial Control: Manage project budgets, track costs, issue invoices, manage variations/change orders, and ensure project profitability and cash flow.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Provide regular progress reports and manage client expectations effectively.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve issues promptly to minimize impact on project outcomes.
  • Safety & Quality Assurance: Ensure all project activities adhere strictly to the company’s Environment Health and Safety policies, Singapore’s safety regulations, and project-specific quality standards. Manage site safety compliance in coordination with the Installation Section Head.
  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate labour, materials, equipment delivery (in conjunction with the Logistics Section Head), and specialized testing resources across different sections of the business unit.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification is highly advantageous
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience managing complex electrical infrastructure or energy projects, specifically involving the installation and commissioning of MV switchgear (22kV or 6.6kV). At least 3-4 years must be in a project management or leadership capacity within the power sector in Singapore.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and contract administration
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills
  • Familiarity with relevant Singapore electrical codes and safety regulations.
