SOVAH Health - Martinsville

Provides leadership for assessment, planning, coordinating, implementation and evaluation of orientation, new graduate residency, in‑services and educational training for Sovah Health‑Martinsville. Functions in the role of a teacher, facilitator and internal consultant to departments within the organization.

Responsible for operations, oversight, and supervision of the simulation laboratory. The Director will plan operations of the simulation laboratory and work collaboratively with the education team and external stakeholders to ensure safe and effective use of the simulation lab. The Director will also serve as a clinical instructor in the clinical setting as needed. Other duties include advising students, serving on committees, and participating in education activities.

Job Requirements
Minimum Education
  • Graduate from school of professional nursing. Bachelors degree required, Masters degree required.
Required Skills
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
  • Minimum of five years experience in professional nursing in which leadership ability has been demonstrated; two years of management or leadership experience preferred.
Licenses
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or compact state required.
Additional Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Accepts responsibility and accountability to operations of the department. Exhibits mastery of verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with administration, physicians, nursing staff, and all other customers of the hospital maintaining a high standard of professional ethics.
