Brief Background
Seeking a dedicated Chief Technician to manage and enhance the operational efficiency of building M&E services. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a skilled team and ensure the seamless functioning of vital building systems.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations, monitoring, and maintenance of all building M&E services systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and Building Management Systems.
- Supervise and mentor a team of senior technicians and technicians, ensuring adherence to safe work practices.
- Plan and prepare duty rosters for the technicians’ team to maintain adequate coverage for operations and standby duties.
- Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and assign daily work orders to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Lead inspections and testing for tenancy works, including commissioning and compliance verification.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, local codes, and safety regulations through effective coordination of inspections and certifications.
- Facilitate smooth interactions between tenants, contractors, and the team during fitting-out, reinstatement, and maintenance works while ensuring safety standards are met.
- Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (CERT) and contribute to safety training, drills, and inspections.
- Monitor and manage inventory for spare parts, tools, and consumables, ensuring all stock is accounted for.
- Perform troubleshooting, investigate faults, and recommend rectifications as needed.
- Take on additional duties as assigned to support overall operational objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum Nitec/Higher Nitec in Facility Technology (Mechanical and Electrical Services), Facilities Management & Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in building services.
- Proficient understanding of general maintenance procedures, with strong technical knowledge of M&E services.
- Demonstrated sense of responsibility and commitment to quality work.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team dynamic.
- Excellent communication skills with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
- Preferred knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
- Required experience with HVAC systems and proficiency in using Building Management Systems.
