Job description
  • Perform various analytical tests and ensure that all incoming samples are tested and completed on time using the appropriate test methods and good laboratory practices, along with the proper reporting and maintenance of records.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of statistics and Chemistry analytical techniques.
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
  • To uphold the scientific integrity and professional reputation of both themselves and of the laboratory and exercise professional judgement and seek advice from senior staff with complex issues.
  • To document, revise and assess the analytical methods used in the laboratory in consultation with the Team Leader or Operations Manager.
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of the laboratory management system to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
  • Notify the laboratory supervisor or Team Leader of any "out-of-spec" or erroneous results, retests or other issues or problems with samples and analyses for prompt actions.
  • Report all customer complaints or concerns to the Team Leader or Operations Manager promptly. Assist in the investigation to determine the root cause and ensure effective corrective actions and improvements are identified and implemented.
  • Responsible for reviewing and confirming the accuracy and integrity of tests before reporting results on LIMS.
  • Sign off reports as an approved SAC signatory for the appropriate discipline (where applicable).
  • Responsible for maintaining laboratory inventory of consumables and chemicals and updating as needed.
  • Participate and contribute to health and safety continuous improvement initiatives. Report all incidents, including near misses, whether or not these incidents involve actual consequences, ensure safe work practices are followed and proactively promote safe behaviour and injury prevention. Participate in training and work safely including the proper use of safety equipment. Ensure safety at work is top priority.
Job Requirements
  • Diploma in Chemistry or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of laboratory experience preferred (entry-level candidates may be considered for junior roles).
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices or ISO 17025 standards.
  • Prior experience using laboratory instruments (e.g. HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, ICP, etc.) is strongly preferred.
  • Fresh chemistry graduates are welcome to apply.
