A leading aviation operator at Medina Airport is seeking a skilled Unix / Linux Engineer. We are partnering with a leading aviation operator at Medina Airport to recruit a skilled Unix / Linux Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, designing, installing, and maintaining mission-critical Unix / Linux systems, storage units, server hardware, and backup solutions across airport terminals. You will ensure 24 / 7 operational support, maintain high availability, and proactively close security gaps—keeping systems running smoothly and securely.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Deployment
Plan, design, install, configure, upgrade, migrate, and maintain Linux servers and automation tools (Debian & Red Hat derivatives, Ansible, Satellite, etc.).
Perform feasibility studies to assess Unix / Linux, storage, backup, and virtualization requirements for new airport projects.
Infrastructure Management
Administer server, storage, and SAN hardware (setup, management, maintenance).
Implement and manage virtualization and containerization platforms (VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes, etc.).
Performance & Availability
Monitor system performance; perform tuning to optimize resource utilization and responsiveness.
Maintain high availability and redundancy for all business-critical Unix / Linux systems, SAN, backup (Veeam Backup), and VMware environments.
Security & Compliance
Identify and close security vulnerabilities within scope of internal / external audits.
Prepare and enforce Information Security Management System (ISMS) documentation.
Follow up on licensing and support agreements to ensure compliance.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Install, configure, and manage backup systems (Veeam); execute and monitor backup activities.
Execute various management tasks and maintain full backup / restore readiness at all times.
Capacity Planning & Documentation
Conduct long-term hardware / software upgrade planning; prepare annual capacity forecasts.
Maintain up-to-date documentation for all Unix / Linux infrastructure, backup procedures, and capacity plans.
Stay current with emerging technologies; recommend and implement upgrades when needed.
Respond rapidly to ad-hoc requests and incident tickets; produce solutions to resolve issues quickly.
Execute any additional tasks assigned by your manager, ensuring alignment with the job description.
