Job summary

Confidential seeks a Temporary Works Supervisor to supervise on-site temporary works activities, ensure compliance with designs, drawings, method statements, and procedures, and support the TWC with inspections and record-keeping.

You will oversee installation, use, maintenance, and dismantling of temporary works, monitor construction sequences, and strive to maintain safety and quality across major infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Relevant technical or vocational qualifications and temporary works-related training certificates.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Minimum 7 years of construction experience, including at least 3 years in temporary works supervision.
  • Proven experience on major infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, tunnels, or major concrete structures).
  • Strong practical knowledge of temporary works systems (formwork, falsework, scaffolding, excavation support, shoring, propping, working platforms).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, ITPs.
  • Working knowledge of BS 5975 and Saudi Building Codes and temporary works permit procedures.
  • Strong site supervision, communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) in implementing the project Temporary Works Procedure and ensuring compliance with approved designs and project requirements.
  • Supervise the installation, use, maintenance, modification, and dismantling of temporary works, ensuring compliance with certified designs, approved drawings, specifications, and construction sequences.
  • Ensure that the latest approved temporary works drawings, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and relevant technical documentation are available and understood by the construction teams before commencing activities.
  • Prepare and maintain temporary works inspection checklists and conduct regular site inspections to verify that materials, components, connections, bracing, foundations, and other structural elements comply with approved designs and specifications.
  • Inspect temporary works at critical stages, including before loading, concrete pouring, changes in loading conditions, unloading, and dismantling, ensuring that all required hold points are properly observed.
  • Maintain accurate inspection and monitoring records, ensuring that identified defects, non-conformances, and unsafe conditions are promptly reported to the TWC and appropriately addressed.
  • Support the temporary works permit process by completing the required inspections and verification records, ensuring that no temporary works are loaded, used, modified, unloaded, or dismantled without the necessary approvals and permits.
  • Monitor temporary works throughout their service life, ensuring that periodic inspections and maintenance are carried out and that any deterioration, movement, damage, or changes in site conditions are promptly reported to the TWC.
  • Identify and report any deviations from approved designs, unauthorized modifications, or unforeseen site conditions to the TWC, ensuring that no changes are implemented without the required engineering review and approval.
  • Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, site engineers, and the TWC to ensure that temporary works activities are properly supervised and that technical issues are resolved before proceeding with the works.
  • Brief construction teams and subcontractors on approved installation and dismantling sequences, loading restrictions, safety requirements, and applicable inspection and hold-point procedures.
