Job summary

Hill International, Inc. is seeking a senior Transportation/Highway Engineer to provide expert reviews across transportation, drainage, structural, and geotechnical disciplines. The role focuses on ensuring designs meet SHC, MOT standards, and international best practices throughout design and development stages.

The assignment runs for 5 months, with engagement from consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure quality, constructability, and regulatory compliance in Saudi Arabia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• Master's Degree in Transportation Engineering is preferred.
• 10+ years of transportation/highway engineering experience expected.
• Proficiency in reviewed multidisciplinary designs and utility interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical reviews of highway, roadway, and interchange designs.
• Coordinate and evaluate multidisciplinary engineering submissions.

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of engineering disciplines, from transportation and drainage to structural and geotechnical aspects. You will be expected to provide expert guidance and reviews throughout the design and development stages, ensuring that projects meet the highest standards and regulations.

Project duration: 5 months

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical reviews of highway, roadway, and interchange designs, ensuring compliance with Saudi Highway Code (SHC), MOT standards, and international best practices.
• Coordinate and evaluate multidisciplinary engineering submissions, including transportation, drainage, structural, and traffic engineering packages.
• Review design reports, drawings, calculations, and technical studies, providing constructive feedback and recommendations.
• Engage with design consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and alignment with project goals.
• Support constructability reviews and assess designs for construction feasibility, identifying potential challenges and proposing solutions.
• Review drainage systems, hydraulic studies, and stormwater management solutions, ensuring sustainable and effective water management.
• Evaluate road structures, such as bridges, retaining walls, and underpasses, for safety and structural integrity.
• Participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and risk assessments, contributing to the overall project strategy.
• Assist with permitting processes, authority coordination, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring smooth project progression.
• Monitor consultant performance and maintain high standards of design output, adhering to project schedules and quality expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory, with a preference for a Master's Degree in Transportation Engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in transportation and highway engineering, with a strong track record in major infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in Highway Design, Traffic Engineering, Drainage & Hydrology, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Road Safety Engineering is essential.
• Experience in reviewing multidisciplinary engineering designs, with a solid understanding of utility coordination and interfaces.
• Proficiency in engineering software such as Civil 3D, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, MicroStation, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS is required.
• Familiarity with PMC, client, or design consultancy environments, demonstrating an ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
• A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry advancements and best practices.
• A valid Saudi driving license and the ability to travel within the region as required by project needs.
