ACWA Operations is seeking experienced Shift Engineers for opportunities across RO desalination and CCGT plants in Saudi Arabia. The role leads plant operations during shifts to ensure safe, reliable water production or power generation while maintaining equipment availability and compliance with IMS and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities include supervising shift personnel, coordinating maintenance, and ensuring effective handovers with strict adherence to HSE standards.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in water desalination and/or power generation plants.
• 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in Middle East preferred.

Function: Operations – RO Desalination / CCGT Power Generation

Job Summary

ACWA Operations is seeking experienced Shift Engineers for upcoming opportunities across RO desalination and CCGT power plants in Saudi Arabia. The role is responsible for leading and coordinating plant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient water production or power generation while maintaining operational performance, equipment availability, and compliance with contractual and HSE requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise shift operations, coordinating plant personnel and implementing production schedules to achieve operational targets.
• Oversee RO desalination systems, including pretreatment, membrane trains, high-pressure pumps, and energy recovery devices, or CCGT systems, including gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, generators, and balance-of-plant equipment.
• Direct plant start-up, shutdown, load adjustments, equipment changeovers, and emergency response activities in accordance with approved procedures.
• Monitor plant operating conditions, assess abnormalities, troubleshoot operational issues, and coordinate corrective actions to maintain plant reliability.
• Coordinate maintenance activities, equipment isolation, permit-to-work requirements, protection testing, and safe return-to-service procedures.
• Monitor operational performance, investigate incidents, maintain shift records, and ensure accurate reporting and effective shift handovers.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards, Integrated Management System (IMS), emergency procedures, and contractual requirements.
• Supervise and develop shift personnel through workforce planning, performance management, coaching, and on-the-job training.

Job Specifications

Minimum Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in water desalination and/or power generation plants.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
• Experience in similar plants within the Middle East is preferred.

Required Skills

• Strong technical knowledge of RO desalination or CCGT power plant operations, equipment, process limits, and plant protection systems.
• Experience in shift operations, production planning, plant start-up, shutdown, and emergency management.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work systems, equipment isolation, incident investigation, and operational troubleshooting.
• Understanding of HSE requirements, risk assessments, environmental compliance, and Integrated Management Systems.
• Strong decision-making, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and operational coordination skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, planning, coaching, and people management skills.

Required Certifications

• SAP working knowledge and awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 are preferred.

Work Conditions

• Plant-based position in Saudi Arabia.
• Shift-based operations involving responsibility for plant safety, production, operational decisions, and emergency response.
