Job summary

IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture in Riyadh seeks a Senior Traffic and Detour Engineer to lead technical traffic management on major civil projects. The role covers detours, temporary traffic measures and intra-site traffic coordination within our infrastructure division.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years of mega project experience, with roads experience and strong English; SCE membership is mandatory and Saudi-based relocation is expected. Multinational team experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with specialty in Transport/Traffic Management
• Mandatory to provide valid SCE membership with CV
• Over 15 years of experience in mega construction projects focusing on onsite traffic management as a consultant
• Roads experience is essential; candidates without ROAD project experience will not be considered
• English proficiency required; Arabic is a plus

Job description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Traffic and Detour Engineer to join our Project and Construction Management team in Riyadh. This opportunity lies within our Infrastructure Division and requires specific expertise in working on Civil Engineering and Transportation projects, particularly those involving roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels in urban environments. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating all technical aspects related to detours, temporary traffic measures, intra-site traffic management, man-machine interfaces and all related matters throughout the worksite.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Main descriptions of the job position:

• Technical control of all traffic management proposals during construction as well as “final state” for highway schemes as well as coordination of all other discipline specialists and persons responsible for quality control.
• Amplifies or resolves design issues, where possible, or coordinates design issues with home office support.
• Advises technically on design changes.
• Oversees and coordinates the review of the Contractor’s technical submissions, shop drawings, materials, and design submissions.
• Final review of all Contractor’s review drawings, schedules, or materials submittals to ensure compliance with the overall objectives of the design concepts of the project.
• Assessment and technical reporting on any Value Engineering proposals.
• Coordination with any other supervision services team.
• Acts as point of contact between the traffic department and the HSE Manager.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with the relevant specialty/majoring in Transport or Traffic Management and/or equivalent work experience.
• Mandatory to provide the valid SCE membership attached with the CV.
• Applicable Experience: over 15 years in in mega construction projects, with a focus on onsite traffic management, mainly as a Consultant. Candidates with exclusive contractors experience will not be taken into consideration.
• At least experience in 1 or more projects of ROADS. Candidates without clear ROAD experience will not be taken into consideration.
• Understanding of construction, design and engineering principles.
• Understanding of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Proficiency level of English language. Arabic Language is a plus.
• Report writing skills, social skills, communication, teamwork, problem solving, autonomy, flexibility, and technical rigor.
• Willingness to work in a multinational environment firm.

Additional requirements:

• Transferable Iqama in case non-Saudi.
• Based in Riyadh.
• Valid SCE membership.
