Job summary

Mace is leading a major mixed-use development in Saudi Arabia, seeking a senior environmental professional to oversee solid waste management across the project lifecycle. You will manage technical resources, deliver KPIs, and align waste strategies with sustainability goals.

The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and experience across planning, design, delivery and governance of waste infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Extensive experience in solid waste management, waste infrastructure planning and delivery.
• Strong understanding of integrated waste management systems, recycling and recovery.
• Proven stakeholder management, leadership and multidisciplinary coordination.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver annual business plan outcomes within deadlines and budget.
• Lead technical resources for solid waste management infrastructure and ensure alignment with programme objectives.
• Present management review data, technical performance metrics and KPIs to project and functional leadership teams.
• Support business development, work-winning activities, market engagement and capability development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with management systems, governance, regulations and defined roles.
• Act as primary focal point for solid waste management, driving continuous improvement in waste strategies and operational processes.
• Lead coordination and provide input on waste collection, transfer, treatment, recycling and energy-from-waste solutions.
• Influence procurement strategies, contractual and commercial matters, collaborating with PMO for integrated delivery.
• Promote technical excellence, circular economy principles, and best practices through knowledge networks.
• Support net-zero objectives via waste minimisation, resource recovery, recycling and carbon reduction initiatives.

The Project

This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed‑use development including sports facilities, entertainment, and arts along with all associated infrastructure. Mace is one of the delivery partners requiring high‑calibre and experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project.

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Develop and deliver annual business plan outcomes within agreed deadlines and budget requirements
• Lead and manage technical resources associated with solid waste management infrastructure, overseeing delivery activities and ensuring alignment with programme objectives.
• Present management review data, technical performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to project and functional leadership teams.
• Support business development, work‑winning activities, market engagement, and the delivery of technical training and capability development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with management systems, project governance requirements, relevant regulations, and defined roles and responsibilities.
• Act as the primary focal point for solid waste management matters, driving continuous improvement in waste strategies, technical standards, delivery plans, tools, and operational processes.
• Lead technical coordination and provide specialist input into waste collection, transfer, treatment, recycling, resource recovery, waste‑to‑energy, and disposal infrastructure solutions.
• Influence procurement strategies, contractual and commercial matters, and collaborate with PMO and multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and coordinated project delivery.
• Promote technical excellence, innovation, circular economy principles, and industry best practices through engagement with organisational knowledge networks and centres of excellence.
• Support net‑zero carbon objectives through the implementation of waste minimisation, resource recovery, recycling, and carbon reduction initiatives across the project lifecycle.

You’ll Need To Have

• Educated to degree level in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Waste Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent).
• Extensive experience in solid waste management, waste infrastructure planning, design, delivery, operations, or consultancy.
• Strong understanding of integrated waste management systems, recycling, resource recovery, waste treatment technologies, and sustainability principles.
• Proven stakeholder management, technical leadership, and multidisciplinary project coordination experience.
