Senior Site Architect is responsible for co-leading the DSA Site Supervision team, along with the Project Lead Architect, ensuring compliance with construction & Employer contracts and quality standards while managing the pre-engineering and associated synchronization process and effectively coordinate with various stakeholders and facilitate successful project delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing and supervising the DSA Site Supervision team, which may include Assistant Site Architects, Architectural Inspectors, document controllers, and other admin staff.
- Coordinating all Architects, and sub-consultants site supervision team’s tasks and duties in accordance with the Construction & Employer contract requirements and DSA work QA & QC work procedures.
- Construction Contract requirements and compliance
- In acting out the duties herein the employee is to follow and implement all relevant company and project work procedures.
- Establish / Obtain at the project outset: staffing organization chart, lines of communication & reporting, roles and responsibilities matrix for all project team, all project procedures and proformas for use in site works quality control and site supervision
- Contractor pre-start activities
- Overseeing the implementation at the site or project office of general office tasks, housekeeping and document control, ensuring that the site team comply with all the agreed procedures
- Utilizing of computer software for the document and drawing control, If available and per the contract’s requirements eg Primavera Expedition
- HR Duties / Supervision of Assistant Site Architects, Inspectors and other staff
- Maintaining a full set of Design drawings, schedules, specifications etc.
- Maintaining a set of project managers instructions, contractors verbal instructions, RFI’s and their responses, submittals and their responses (pre-engineering).
- Maintain a Daily diary, which should include: weather, inspections and testing carried out [on and off site], NCN’s & Site Observations raised, contractors’ resources, key events, meetings, client visits, new activities started.
- Receive all incoming the Mail, copy and distribute as appropriate to each sub-consultant.
- Contact and coordinate with the appropriate design consultant and obtain/prepare and issue responses, as required, in a timely manner.
- Prepare and issue letters and other notices, responses etc to the Client, Project Manager, sub-consultants, Contractors and the like. All critical and sensitive issues are only to be issued after consultation with the Project Architect.
- Record poor performance and improvement notices on sub consultants, after consultation and coordination with Project Architect.
- Respond to PM, Client on any raised issues.
- Formal correspondence is to be per the lines of communication agreed with the Client / Project Manager.
- Request and approve the contractor’s documentation in advance of the works starting
- Inspection requests and Inspections, off-site tests and Inspections
- Final Inspection and snagging at project close out and handover
- Contractors’ queries [RFI – Requests for Information]
- Site sketches to be issued formally with a unique reference, date and purpose of issue statement.
- Site Housekeeping and Site Safety
- Review of Contractors payment applications, and progress reports
- Prepare and / or Assist the Design Manager / Design Project manager / Project Architect in production, monitoring of tracking schedules and action lists to produce design deliverables, responses to RFI’s, Submittals etc.
- Close out program and method statement, which is to include: testing and commissioning, NCR closure, snagging/de-snag program activities. Power, water, telephone, chilled water supply connections all other utility connections. Local authority inspections. Training
Qualification and requirements:
- Engineering / Architectural diploma or an equivalent degree / certification.
- 15-20 years of site experience.
- Middle East hospitality experience is preferred.
- Proficient with FIDIC Contract Implementation.
- Experience in leading a multidisciplinary team is a must.
- Aconex, Bluebeam, Acrobat, AutoCAD, Office, Snagging (Field, SNAGR, 4P, other). Revit would be advantageous.
