Role Context

The Senior Forensic Planner will act as the project subject matter expert for delay analysis, schedule diagnostics, claims evaluation, and time‑related dispute resolution. The position will examine baseline programs, progress updates, contemporaneous records, critical path changes, and contractor submissions to determine the causes and contractual effects of project delays. The planner will work closely with project controls, commercial, contracts, legal, engineering, and construction teams. Accurate forensic analysis will support defensible Extension of Time decisions, strengthen negotiation positions, identify emerging schedule risks, and reduce exposure during mediation, arbitration, and final contract closeout.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed forensic analysis of complex engineering and construction schedules.
• Apply Time Impact Analysis, As‑Planned versus As‑Built, Windows Analysis, impacted as‑planned, and other recognized delay methodologies.
• Review baseline schedules, approved updates, recovery programs, look‑ahead plans, and schedule narratives.
• Identify critical and near‑critical paths, logic changes, float consumption, concurrency, and milestone movement.
• Investigate the causes, duration, responsibility, and contractual effect of delays and disruption events.
• Assess Extension of Time claims submitted by contractors, consultants, and delivery partners.
• Review claim narratives, programme files, notices, correspondence, site records, progress reports, and supporting evidence.
• Determine whether claimed delays are substantiated, contractually relevant, and supported by contemporaneous records.
• Prepare independent schedule assessments to support approval, rejection, or adjustment of time claims.
• Evaluate disruption, acceleration, resequencing, mitigation, and productivity‑related schedule impacts.
• Develop clear delay chronologies and event‑based analyses for complex work packages.
• Prepare legally robust forensic planning reports, position papers, expert summaries, and executive presentations.
• Translate detailed schedule findings into concise recommendations for senior management and client leadership.
• Support commercial and contracts teams during claim negotiations and settlement discussions.
• Assist legal advisers with mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
• Provide schedule evidence, technical explanations, and analytical support for expert submissions where required.
• Monitor live project schedules to identify latent delay risks and emerging areas of contractual exposure.
• Detect critical path shifts, unrealistic logic, excessive constraints, open‑ended activities, and weak progress records.
• Recommend mitigation, recovery, resequencing, or additional controls before delays become formal disputes.
• Review contractor recovery schedules and assess whether proposed measures are achievable and properly resourced.
• Use Primavera P6 and Acumen Fuse to test schedule quality, logic integrity, and delay scenarios.
• Maintain organized records of analyses, assumptions, source documents, findings, and review comments.
• Coordinate with planners, cost specialists, quantity surveyors, engineers, and project managers.
• Support contract closeout by resolving outstanding schedule claims and time‑related commercial issues.
• Mentor junior planners and strengthen forensic scheduling capability across the project controls team.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor 's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive project controls, planning, and scheduling experience.
• At least 4 to 5 years of dedicated forensic planning, delay analysis, and claims assessment experience.
• Strong background supporting large infrastructure, construction, urban development, or mega‑project programs.
• Advanced expertise in Primavera P6 schedule development, review, and forensic analysis.
• Practical experience using Acumen Fuse or comparable schedule diagnostic software.
• Detailed knowledge of Time Impact Analysis, Windows Analysis, As‑Planned versus As‑Built, and related methodologies.
• Proven ability to evaluate Extension of Time, disruption, acceleration, and delay claims.
• Strong understanding of critical path methodology, concurrency, float ownership, mitigation, and entitlement.
• Experience reviewing contract notices, correspondence, progress records, and contemporaneous evidence.
• Ability to prepare defensible technical reports for commercial, legal, and executive audiences.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, project controls, contract administration, and dispute processes.
• Excellent analytical judgment with close attention to logic, evidence, chronology, and causation.
• Exceptional written and spoken English communication skills.
