Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive planning and scheduling experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Experience coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules.
  • PMI-SP, AACE PSP, PMP, or equivalent certification would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and maintain Level 1-4 schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Update the Integrated Master Schedule with approved progress, forecasts, and scope information.
  • Build schedule logic, calendars, activity codes, and WBS structures.
  • Align interfaces across engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
  • Establish baselines and maintain change control for schedules.
  • Perform regular schedule updates, progress measurement, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze critical and near-critical paths to protect milestones.
  • Run what-if scenarios and propose recovery or acceleration measures.
  • Develop resource-loaded schedules and perform resource leveling.
  • Support schedule risk assessments and document assumptions.
  • Prepare time-impact analyses for changes and delays.
  • Create dashboards, narratives, and management presentations.
  • Lead schedule-review meetings and coordinate look-ahead planning.

The program encompasses iconic and neighborhood parks, open spaces, and more than 55 kilometers of streetscape intended to improve accessibility, livability, and community well-being. The Planning Engineer will develop and maintain integrated project schedules, measure progress, analyze delays, and help project leadership make informed delivery decisions. Role Context Effective schedule control is essential to coordinating the many design disciplines, contractors, work packages, and construction interfaces involved in this public-realm program. The Planning Engineer will convert project scope and delivery requirements into logical, measurable, and resource-aware schedules. By identifying critical activities, emerging variances, resource constraints, and delay risks, the engineer will support timely management intervention. Accurate reporting and practical recovery recommendations will help protect contractual milestones, improve coordination, and maintain confidence among project leadership and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, integrate, and maintain Level 1-4 schedules using Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Update the Integrated Master Schedule with approved progress, forecasts, and scope information.
  • Build reliable schedule logic, calendars, activity codes, and work-breakdown structures.
  • Align interfaces across engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Establish approved schedule baselines and maintain proper change control.
  • Perform regular schedule updates, progress measurement, variance analysis, and trend evaluation.
  • Analyze critical and near-critical paths to identify threats to project milestones.
  • Run what-if scenarios and recommend recovery, mitigation, or acceleration measures.
  • Develop resource-loaded schedules and perform resource analysis and leveling.
  • Identify productivity constraints and coordinate solutions with discipline leads and contractors.
  • Support schedule risk assessments by documenting assumptions, quantifying potential effects, and monitoring mitigation actions.
  • Prepare time-impact analyses for approved changes and identified project delays.
  • Contribute schedule evidence and technical input for delay and claims documentation.
  • Develop dashboards, progress reports, schedule narratives, and management presentations.
  • Facilitate schedule-review meetings and coordinate short-term look-ahead planning.
  • Present clear schedule information to project leadership, clients, and delivery teams.
  • Mentor junior planners and help improve planning tools, templates, controls, and procedures.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor 's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered where appropriate.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive planning and scheduling experience.
  • Background supporting large, multidisciplinary construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong command of critical-path method scheduling and baseline management.
  • Experience with progress measurement, variance analysis, and trend reporting.
  • Practical knowledge of resource-loaded scheduling and cross-functional coordination.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • Ability to explain complex schedule issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting time-impact analysis, delay analysis, or construction claims is advantageous.
  • PMI-SP, AACE PSP, PMP, or an equivalent professional certification would be beneficial.
