Job summary

Buro Happold Riyadh is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design of complex building-services projects, from concept through handover. You will co-ordinate with multidisciplinary teams and apply Saudi Arabian and regional standards to deliver energy-efficient, integrated systems that meet performance and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Significant post-graduate experience in electrical building-services engineering, ideally within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment.
Experience delivering electrical designs for complex buildings (commercial, hospitality, residential, cultural, healthcare, education, aviation, transport or large-scale mixed-use developments).
Strong understanding of electrical power systems, lighting, emergency systems, standby generation, UPS, earthing, lightning protection and ELV interfaces.
Experience coordinating MEP services within architect-led and multidisciplinary design teams.
Working knowledge of Saudi Arabia and wider Middle East electrical codes and authority requirements.
Proficiency in design/analysis software, such as Revit, AutoCAD, electrical calculation software and BIM coordination tools.
Experience preparing specifications, reports, calculations, drawings and tender documentation.
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to manage priorities and work independently; collaborative team player.
Professional membership or progress toward chartership desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead the electrical design of building-services systems for complex new-build, refurbishment and mixed-use developments.
Develop coordinated electrical design solutions across all project stages, including concept, schematic, detailed design, tender and construction support.
Design and specify low-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, earthing and lightning protection, standby power, UPS systems, and ELV/ICT interfaces as applicable.
Produce and review electrical calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, schedules and design documentation.
Ensure electrical systems are integrated with the architectural design and wider MEP strategy for high performance environments.
Coordinate with mechanical, public health, sustainability and specialist consultants to resolve interfaces.
Apply relevant codes, standards and authority requirements throughout the design process.
Support energy-conscious design decisions and life-cycle considerations.
