Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer, Core APIs with a Site Reliability Engineering focus. The role is based in Saudi Arabia and supports a fully remote, globally distributed team working on high-scale backend and fraud-detection infrastructure.

You will own reliability through SLIs, SLOs, and incident management while building scalable APIs, microservices, and real-time data services using Go or Node.js, with Docker, Kubernetes, and IaC tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with production systems
• Experience with formal SRE practices including error budgets and capacity planning
• Strong hands-on experience with Go and/or Node.js, and willingness to learn the other
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, microservices, and real-time data-processing
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments
• IaC using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
• Observability platforms such as Datadog for instrumentation and alerting
• SQL skills with DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch or similar
• Experience with production on-call rotations and incident analysis
• Strong distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance focus
• English communication in a globally distributed, remote-first team
• Degree in CS or equivalent professional experience welcomed
• Experience with ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks advantageous
• Experience with security/privacy in backend environments

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize highly performant backend services for real-time data and APIs
• Define and own SLIs, SLOs and error budgets for core API services
• Build observability with metrics, logs, tracing, dashboards, and alerts
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead post-incident reviews
• Automate operational tasks to reduce toil and prevent outages
• Capacity planning, load testing, and performance tuning
• Investigate production issues and translate findings into improvements
• Integrate backend components and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering standards
• Contribute to a reliability-focused engineering culture
