Job summary

Alfred H Knight AB Minerals Arabia is seeking a Sample Preparation Technician for our Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia site. You will prepare client samples for analysis following set procedures and SOPs, adhering to QMS guidelines and maintaining precise records.

You will operate calibrated equipment, label samples, and monitor safety and environmental protocols while supporting continuous quality improvements and a safe working environment.

Qualifications

• 1-year experience in sampling and Sample Preparation.
• Knowledge and experience in sampling and sample preparation.
• Grade 12 secondary school with science or 5 years of relevant work experience in sample preparation or analytical laboratory would be an advantage.
• Forklift license/certification, or experience driving a forklift is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate various sample preparation equipment following procedures outlined in QWIs.
• Sort received samples per clients submission form and note discrepancies.
• Barcode labelling of sorted samples and capture of received sample weight.
• Transfer scanned samples to drying racks.
• Crush, riffle, split and sieve as directed prior to drying samples at specified temperature.
• Operate pulverizing mills to achieve desired specification for end product.
• Inform supervisor promptly of problems (e.g., wet samples, machinery breakdown).
• Maintain machinery and equipment per procedures.
• Keep work areas clean and tidy.

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight AB Minerals Arabia has an exciting opportunity for a Sample Preparation Technician to join our team in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Reporting to the Sample Preparation Supervisor and Sample Preparation Assistant Supervisor, you will be responsible for working with client samples and prepare them for analysis in the laboratory according to set procedures and instructions.

In this role, you will adhere to strict Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines and SOPs, maintaining precise records, following change management protocols, and using only calibrated, properly maintained equipment. You will actively support the implementation of new Quality Assurance procedures to keep standards high. You will uphold all AHK AB health and safety policies, apply lock-out/tag-out procedures, wear required PPE, and comply with current OHS legislation. You will also proactively report and correct any unsafe practices, compliance concerns, or environmental risks to ensure a safe operational environment.

Essential

• Operate various sample preparation equipment following procedures outlined in associated QWIs.
• Sort received samples as per clients submission form, noting any discrepancies on sample sorting sheet.
• Barcode labelling of sorted samples and received sample weight capture to GeoCreate.
• Transfer scanned samples to drying racks.
• Crush, riffle, split and sieve as directed prior to drying samples at specified temperature.
• Operate pulverizing mills to achieve desired specification for end product.
• Promptly inform the supervisor of any problems (e.g. excessively wet samples, machinery breakdown etc).
• Maintain machinery and equipment as outlined in the procedures.
• Ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy.

Required Competencies
