Job summary

NEW Alfa International is seeking a Resident Veterinarian for a large-scale Sheep Breeding, Fattening & Production Project in the Riyadh region of Saudi Arabia. The role requires on-site residency to manage flock health, vaccination, parasite control, and veterinary records, while guiding farm staff on welfare and biosecurity.

The successful candidate will hold a veterinary degree, be eligible for Saudi licensing, and have 5+ years in small ruminants and 3+ years on commercial sheep farms,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine & Surgery from a recognized university.
• Eligible to obtain or hold professional veterinary licensing in Saudi Arabia.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in small ruminant veterinary practice.
• At least 3 years' experience on commercial sheep farms.
• Hands-on experience managing commercial flocks of 2,000+ sheep.
• Willingness to reside on-site and respond to emergencies when required.

Responsibilities

• Manage preventive, therapeutic, and reproductive health programs for the sheep flock.
• Diagnose and treat diseases while ensuring early detection and effective disease control.
• Develop and implement vaccination, parasite control, and biosecurity programs.
• Supervise lambing, reproductive health, and newborn lamb care.
• Manage the veterinary clinic, medicines, vaccines, and medical records.
• Conduct daily flock inspections and monitor overall animal health.
• Perform post-mortem examinations, laboratory sampling, and disease investigations.
• Train farm staff on animal welfare, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly veterinary reports.
