Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking an OFR Operations Specialist in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on implementing ocean freight plans, coordinating operations, and supporting rate and capacity procurement across a global network.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree and more than six years in freight operations. You will engage with internal and external customers, develop trade lane consolidations, and contribute to continuous improvement of service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• More than 6 years of experience in ocean freight operations or related logistics.
• Experience with OFR/CS processes and freight control center is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement OFR Ops/CS plans and processes for ocean freight services.
• Coordinate day-to-day operations within the Airfreight Gateway and line haul allocations.
• Prepare and distribute Import/Export documents and shipping tenders.
• Analyze performance, draft monthly reports, and support pricing inquiries.
• Provide guidance to less experienced team members and ensure service quality.

DHL Global Forwarding has an opening for an OFR Operations Specialist in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Build and Develop trade lane consolidations for South African export traffic. Engage with the Global DGF network to promote and develop the Gateway for neighboring countries and local coastal branches. Coordinate day to day operations within the Airfreight Gateway. Assist & support ACC Manager in rate & capacity procurement as required.

In this Ocean Freight Specialist position

• Implement OFR Ops/CS plans and processes to provide ocean freight services for internal and external customers
• Analyze and collate to provide requirements of freight control center, and to support and provide operations team with the required details, information and instructions for operational performance
• Coordinate freight administration in providing allocation and reservations of freight on planned line haul
• Contribute to develop and execute plans for ocean freight products in areas such as perishables, pharmaceutical, aviation, etc.
• Identify opportunities to expand business with new clients and continuously improve in‑house customer services
• Build close business relationship with existing clients, conduct customer visits and maintain a desired level of customer retention
• Stay updated on account performances, draft and provide monthly reports to management
• Implement pricing strategy and respond to pricing enquiries in an efficient and competitive manner
• Deliver day‑to‑day shipment documentation for freight forwarding, assist in development of shipping tenders and ensure on‑time submission on relevant documents
• Seek opportunities to enhance ocean freight productivity, and efficient resource allocation and utilization
• Analyze and provide input for processes and design systems to enhance service quality
• Resolve and analyze issues in day‑to‑day delivery and implement practices for OFR Ops/CS focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency
• Provide support on issues and problems from less experienced/ new team members, provide direction and guidance as needed

In area of OFR product:

• Create and/or confirm transport orders, perform and optimize bookings
• Prepare, control, and distribute all required Import/Export documents
• Identify performance issues of suppliers, and propose solutions to improve performance
• Update Customs shipment information and physical status, resolve customer issues and incidents
