Job summary

Saipem is seeking an Offshore Environmental Coordinator to support offshore construction projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. You will help implement environmental compliance requirements, monitor emissions and discharges, and coordinate environmental monitoring programs for vessels and marine operations.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, fluency in English and Arabic, and strong knowledge of ISO 14001, MARPOL, and ESG reporting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in environmental management, preferably offshore oil & gas construction or vessel operations.
  • Experience with major clients like Saudi Aramco is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic. Evidence of strong regulatory and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, review and implementation of EIA/ESIA requirements for offshore projects.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permit conditions and regulatory approvals during offshore construction.
  • Conduct environmental aspect and impact assessments for offshore activities including vessels, dredging, and marine logistics.
  • Develop and implement Oil Spill Prevention and Response Plans; coordinate drills and exercises.
  • Prepare environmental performance reports and KPI dashboards for management and client reporting.

Purpose of the position:

As Offshore Environmental Coordinator you will be part of the ABSER Business Line supportingoffshore construction projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. You will support the implementation of environmental compliance requirements, EIA/ESIA commitments, environmental monitoring, pollution prevention, and environmental performance reporting for offshore projects, vessels, subcontractors, and marine construction activities.

How can you support us?
  • Support the preparation, review, and implementation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) requirements for offshore projects.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permit conditions, regulatory approvals, and EIA commitments during offshore construction and marine operations.
  • Conduct environmental aspect and impact assessments for offshore activities including vessel operations, pipelay, subsea works, dredging, and marine logistics.
  • Perform environmental studies and impact analyses to evaluate project activities under normal and abnormal operating conditions and identify appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate marine environmental monitoring programs covering seawater quality, sediment, waste management, emissions, discharges, and pollution control.
  • Assess environmental risks related to offshore construction activities and develop appropriate mitigation measures to minimize impacts on marine ecosystems and sensitive receptors.
  • Ensure protection of sensitive marine environments and environmentally protected areas during project execution.
  • Develop and implement Oil Spill Prevention and Response Plans and coordinate environmental emergency drills and exercises.
  • Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and vessel assessments to verify compliance with project Environmental Management System requirements.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor environmental performance and compliance with project environmental requirements.
  • Participate in environmental incident investigations and ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with MARPOL Convention requirements and other applicable marine environmental regulations during offshore construction, vessel operations, marine logistics activities, and pollution prevention programs.
  • Prepare environmental performance reports, KPI dashboards, statistical analyses, and lessons learned reports for management review and client reporting.
  • Support GHG emission management, energy efficiency initiatives, and environmental sustainability programs at offshore project sites.
What are we looking for?
Education:

Bachelor's or Master's in any Environmental related degree such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Geology etc

Background:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in environmental management, preferably within offshore oil and gas construction or vessel-based operations. Experience with Saudi Aramco or similar major client requirements will be an advantage.

Languages:

Fluent in English and Arabic

Technical Knowledge:

Environmental Management Systems including ISO 14001; EIA/ESIA requirements; environmental permitting and regulatory compliance; marine environmental monitoring; waste, chemical, water, discharge and emissions management; oil spill prevention and response; environmental audits and inspections; environmental incident investigation; GHG and sustainability reporting; MARPOL and applicable marine environmental requirements.

What else should you know?

Frequent Offshore travel and vessel/site visits will be expected within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and associated offshore project locations, in line with project requirements.
