Job summary

MBRF Global Foods Company S.A. invites a senior microbiology professional in Jeddah to lead laboratory testing and quality control activities. You will ensure sampling plans, perform analyses, and generate reports that inform product quality decisions.

Ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in a related field with 5+ years of microbiology experience, strong ISO 17025 knowledge, and proficiency in LIMS and SAP. Relocation to Jeddah is welcomed for this on-site role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Technology, Veterinary Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in microbiology, lab operations, food quality, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements and lab quality management systems.
• Business-level English; Arabic is advantageous; Portuguese is a plus.
• Experience with LIMS and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Receive, prepare, and test samples following sampling plans and ISO standards.
• Perform microbiological analysis of products, materials, water, and surfaces.
• Review results and communicate deviations to QA and stakeholders.
• Prepare and authorize lab reports and maintain test records.
• Coordinate testing activities to ensure timely results.
• Maintain laboratory documentation and traceability in LIMS and SAP.
• Support proficiency testing, external labs, validations, and audits.
• Collaborate with Production, QA, R&D on new products and quality initiatives.
• Contribute to ISO 17025 compliance and GLP/QMS improvements.
• Ensure equipment calibration and proper resource management.
• Promote safe, compliant laboratory environment following food safety requirements.
• Provide training and guidance on new methodologies.

What will you be doing at MBRF?

• Receive, prepare, and test samples in accordance with approved sampling plans, laboratory procedures, ISO requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Perform microbiological analysis of finished products, raw materials, ingredients, water, surfaces, air, rework, and other relevant samples while ensuring full traceability throughout the testing process.
• Review, interpret, and evaluate laboratory results against established standards, identifying deviations and communicating findings to Quality Assurance and relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare and authorize laboratory reports, maintain accurate test records, and provide analytical insights, trends, and reports to support business decisions.
• Coordinate laboratory testing activities to ensure accurate and timely results while supporting investigations into product or process quality issues.
• Maintain laboratory documentation and traceability through LIMS, SAP, and other quality management systems.
• Support proficiency testing, external laboratory activities, validation studies, and technical audits.
• Partner with Production, Quality Assurance, R&D, and other stakeholders to support new product development, supplier approvals, and quality initiatives.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory quality systems in line with ISO 17025, Good Laboratory Practices, and company standards.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operating effectively while managing consumables, chemicals, media, and laboratory resources.
• Promote a safe, clean, and compliant laboratory environment while adhering to HSE, food safety, food defense, and quality requirements.
• Support the development of new methodologies, technologies, and process improvements while providing technical guidance and training when needed.

What kind of profile are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Technology, Veterinary Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in microbiology, laboratory operations, food quality, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 17025 requirements and laboratory quality management systems.
• Business-level proficiency in English; Arabic is considered an advantage. Portuguese is a plus.
• Experience working with laboratory systems such as LIMS and SAP.
• Based in Jeddah or willing to relocate to Jeddah.
