Job summary

Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie Company, in Riyadh seeks a Medical Affairs leader to develop and maintain scientific alliances with physicians and KOLs in the MEA region.

You will execute the Medical Affairs plan for Saudi Arabia, provide scientific education and training on Allergan Aesthetics portfolio, and coordinate advisory boards, studies, and medical communications while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• MD or PhD preferred; a science degree is acceptable with relevant experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Specialized therapeutic area experience in dermatology or medical aesthetics is preferred.
• Experience in advisory board management, publications, and scientific exchange activities.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide scientific support for Allergan initiatives.
• Executes the Medical Affairs plan for Saudi Arabia and the MEA region.
• Provides scientific education and training across Allergan Aesthetics portfolio.
• Performs field visits with key physicians and stakeholders, organizes advisory board meetings, facilitates clinical trials, and serves as the medical resource for stakeholders.
• This is a non-promotional role focusing on providing Healthcare Professionals with fair and balanced scientific information.
• Facilitate information, education, and research activities for physicians and related professionals and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job description

• Current and upcoming Medical Aesthetics portfolios and their associate indications.
• Own and drive Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) engagement.
• Lead scientific exchange with HCPs and report/advise cross-functional team on future medical activities
• Advise and share feedback on brand strategy, development of tactical planning in collaboration with brand team in marketing department.
• Contribute to the total competency of Medical Affairs, not limited to technical aspects.
• Contribute to medical-marketing messaging and approval procedures required.

Position Overview

• Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support to Allergan initiatives in assigned therapeutic areas.
• Executes against the Medical Affairs plan for Saudi Arabia and MEA region.
• Provides scientific education and training initiatives across Allergan Aesthetics portfolio.
• Performs field visits with key physicians and stakeholders, organizing advisory board meetings, facilitating clinical trials, and serving as the medical resource for both external and internal stakeholders.
• This position is a non-promotional role. The primary focus is providing Healthcare Professionals with fair and balanced scientific information.
• Facilitate information, education, and research activities for physicians and ancillary healthcare professionals regarding current and future therapies in development or commercialized by Allergan. Works closely with other Allergan personnel to ensure information, education, and research needs of healthcare professionals are met and to ensure scientific and technical training needs of commercial organizations are identified and met.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Business Planning, Internal Trainings, External training & education, thought leadership identification, development and engagement, Clinical studies feasibility & Pharmacovigilance and compliance in addition to being an expert in the therapy area.

Skills/Qualifications:

Educational Qualifications:

• Strong preference for medical degree (MD), or advanced degree of science (PhD).
• Candidates with Master’s/bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (Pharmacists) can be considered in given the previous work experience.
• Minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Specialized therapeutic area expertise is more preferable (Dermatology or experience in Dermatology, Plastic surgery or Medical Aesthetics therapeutic area is preferred).
• Medical affairs experience in various activities or full understanding: such as advisory board management, publication, and other scientific exchange activities.
• Good understanding of local market.
• Experience in establishing strong influential relationships with KOLs and proof of KOL development.
• Good understanding of multinational culture and ways of working.
• For Internal candidates: At least 2 years in Abbvie with successful track record.
• Based in Riyadh, Willing to travel as necessary for business purposes.
