About the Role
BEC Arabia is seeking experienced Lifting Supervisors to join our Health & Safety Department in Riyadh. As a Lifting Supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate all lifting operations on our construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency. Working on high-profile projects, including Vision 2030 initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the safety and integrity of our operations.
This role requires hands-on leadership, meticulous planning, and a deep understanding of lifting equipment and procedures. You will collaborate closely with site managers, crane operators, and safety officers to ensure that all lifting activities align with regulatory requirements and project specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all lifting operations on-site, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project requirements.
- Develop and implement detailed lifting plans in collaboration with site engineers and project managers.
- Inspect lifting equipment regularly to ensure it is in safe working condition and meets regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, and other personnel to execute lifting operations efficiently and safely.
- Monitor site activities to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other relevant safety regulations.
- Train site personnel on safe lifting practices and the proper use of lifting equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of lifting operations, equipment inspections, and incident reports.
- Liaise with third-party inspectors and certification bodies to ensure equipment compliance.
- Support incident investigations related to lifting operations and recommend preventive measures.
- Promote a safety-first culture by leading toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Report regularly to the Health & Safety Manager on lifting operations and compliance status.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in lifting operations within the construction or heavy engineering industry.
- Lifting Supervisor Certification from a recognized authority (e.g., LOLER, CPCS, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and relevant safety standards.
- Familiarity with lifting equipment such as cranes, hoists, and rigging gear.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing lifting plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software for documentation and reporting.
- Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
- Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- NEBOSH or IOSH Certification in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Experience working on mega-projects or government infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.
- Knowledge of BIM tools for construction planning.
- Familiarity with ARAMCO standards for lifting operations.
- Advanced training in rigging and slinging techniques.
Working Conditions
- Primarily based on construction sites in Riyadh.
- Exposure to outdoor environments with varying weather conditions.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
- Standard working hours with potential for overtime during critical project phases.
- Regular interaction with multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
