Job summary

Dar Al Riyadh Group seeks an experienced Head of Architecture to lead the architectural design department from concept to construction documentation. You will ensure design excellence, compliance with local codes, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams while managing client relationships and project schedules.

The role requires a strong leadership background, 15+ years of architectural experience, and expertise in Revit and BIM processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in architecture with extensive practice in design leadership.
• Registration or membership with a recognized architectural body is advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years of architectural experience, including leadership of multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design department across projects from concept to construction documents.
• Ensure design solutions meet client requirements and codes; manage quality and timelines.
• Provide technical direction and resolve design challenges with multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee BIM workflows, model accuracy, clash detection and coordination with structural and MEP teams.
• Manage relationships with clients, consultants and contractors, and participate in design reviews and presentations.
• Establish and enforce design standards, guidelines and best practices across the department.

We are seeking an experienced strong Head of Architecture strong to lead and oversee the architectural design department within our engineering consultancy The successful candidate will be responsible for managing architectural projects from concept design through detailed design and construction documentation ensuring design excellence technical compliance coordination with multidisciplinary teams and adherence to project schedules and budgets The role requires strong leadership extensive architectural design experience and the ability to manage teams engage with clients and deliver high-quality design solutions in line with local regulations and international standards

Key Responsibilities

1. Architectural Design Leadership Lead the architectural department and oversee all architectural design activities across multiple projects Review and approve concept designs schematic designs detailed designs and construction documentation Ensure design solutions meet client requirements project objectives quality standards and applicable building codes Establish and maintain architectural design standards guidelines and best practices Provide technical direction and resolve complex architectural design challenges
2. Project Management amp Delivery Oversee architectural project deliverables throughout all project stages Monitor project progress resource allocation deadlines and design quality Ensure compliance with project specifications contractual requirements and applicable regulations Identify design risks technical issues and potential project delays implementing corrective actions when required Support project managers in achieving project milestones and delivery targets
3. Team Leadership amp Development Lead mentor and develop a team of architects senior architects and architectural designers Allocate resources and workloads based on project priorities and team capabilities Conduct technical reviews and performance evaluations Identify training needs and promote continuous professional development Foster collaboration accountability and technical excellence within the department
4. BIM amp Technical Coordination Oversee the implementation and effective use of strong BIM workflows Revit and related design technologies strong Ensure architectural models and drawings are accurate coordinated and compliant with project BIM requirements Coordinate with structural MEP infrastructure and other engineering disciplines to resolve design clashes and interface issues Review BIM deliverables model quality drawing packages and design documentation Promote efficient digital design practices and continuous improvement in design coordination
5. Client amp Stakeholder Management Act as the primary architectural point of contact for clients consultants contractors and project stakeholders Attend client meetings design presentations and technical workshops Understand client expectations and translate project briefs into practical innovative design solutions Review and respond to client comments and ensure timely closure of design issues Support business development activities technical proposals and presentations when required
6. Quality Assurance amp Regulatory Compliance Ensure architectural designs comply with applicable local building codes authority requirements accessibility standards fire and life safety requirements and relevant international standards Establish quality control procedures for architectural drawings specifications and design submissions Review technical documentation before submission to clients and relevant authorities Ensure compliance with internal quality management systems and project-specific requirements

Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited university; a master's degree is an advantage. Minimum 15 years of relevant architectural experience, including substantial experience in engineering consultancy. Proven experience in a senior architectural leadership role, managing teams and multiple projects. Strong expertise in concept design, schematic design, detailed design, and construction documentation. Advanced knowledge of Revit, BIM processes, and multidisciplinary design coordination. Excellent knowledge of building codes, architectural standards, and authority approval processes. Experience managing client relationships, design reviews, project deliverables, and technical submissions. Strong understanding of project planning, resource management, and quality assurance. Experience with large-scale, complex, or multidisciplinary projects is highly desirable. Professional registration or membership with a recognized architectural body is an advantage.
