Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Convert and translate data between CAD (DWG/DXF) and GIS (shapefiles, geodatabases).
  • Check spatial alignment, projections, datums, geometry, and attributes before sharing data.
  • Create/update MAPS, site plans, utility plans, and exhibits.
  • Support engineers, planners, and managers with accurate mapping outputs for reviews.
  • Populate and manage spatial databases with metadata standards and version control.
  • Perform QA/QC on geometry, attribution, topology, and drawing references.
  • Draft and modify 2D CAD layouts and civil design details.
  • Carry out basic spatial analysis: overlays, buffers, and constraint mapping.
  • Collaborate with GIS Analysts, CAD Managers, Design Engineers to resolve data issues.
  • Maintain organized project folders, templates, layers, and datasets.
  • Assist in integrating GIS outputs with CAD to support master planning and utilities coordination.
  • Use digital tools to improve accuracy, speed, and traceability in mapping and data management.

This GIS-CAD Technician will support the connection between engineering drawings and geographic information systems, helping project teams maintain accurate spatial data, coordinated layouts, and dependable mapping records. Key Responsibilities
  • Convert and translate data between CAD formats such as DWG and DXF and GIS formats such as shapefiles, geodatabases, and related spatial datasets.
  • Check spatial alignment, coordinate projections, datums, geometry quality, and attribute accuracy before sharing project information with technical teams.
  • Create, update, and maintain thematic maps, spatial layouts, exhibits, site plans, utility plans, and project presentation materials.
  • Support engineers, planners, and project managers with accurate mapping outputs for design reviews, client meetings, reporting, and field coordination.
  • Populate, update, and manage spatial databases while maintaining project metadata standards, layer naming discipline, and document control requirements.
  • Perform QA/QC checks on geometry, attribution, topology, drawing references, and spatial records to reduce data errors and design coordination issues.
  • Draft and modify 2D CAD layouts, site drawings, utility networks, civil plans, and design details based on sketches, survey information, field data, and technical specifications.
  • Carry out basic spatial analysis tasks including overlays, buffers, selection queries, constraint mapping, and site suitability support.
  • Work with GIS Analysts, CAD Managers, Design Engineers, and project delivery teams to resolve data conversion issues and improve file-sharing workflows.
  • Maintain organized project folders, drawing references, map templates, spatial layers, and version‑controlled datasets.
  • Assist in integrating GIS outputs with CAD design packages to support infrastructure planning, utilities coordination, and master‑planning studies.
