Job Summary
As General Manager, you will lead an established road freight and logistics business into its next phase of growth, with full P&L accountability. The company already serves industrial and project clients across the Kingdom and is now expanding its fleet with a large number of new tractor and trailer units. Your mandate is to scale the operation profitably: keep the enlarged fleet loaded with profitable work, drive cost per km down, and grow a disciplined, high-performing team of drivers and staff. As the business grows, you will move it fully onto data rather than paper: every truck tracked, every litre of fuel measured, maintenance planned rather than reactive, and drivers rewarded for safe and efficient driving. This role suits a hands-on leader from the trucking industry who leads from the yard as much as from the office.
Role Expectations: First 12 Months
First 90 Days: Assess & Mobilise
- Review the current operation, customer base, contracts, cost base and team, and agree the expansion priorities with the Chairman.
- Bring the new units into service: licences and operating cards in place, drivers recruited and trained within the approved lean structure.
- Roll out telematics across the full fleet and secure new contracts to load the added capacity.
Month 6: Optimise
- Set utilisation and cost per km targets for the enlarged fleet based on real operating data.
- Move the driver incentive scheme from shadow mode to paid.
- Establish full monthly management reporting to the Chairman.
Month 12: Deliver
- Run the expanded operation at or above budgeted profit.
- Meet fleet availability, safety and fuel efficiency targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Leadership & Customer Growth
- Grow and diversify the customer base across industrial and project sectors to fill the added capacity; lead contract and rate negotiations.
- Price trips and contracts on a disciplined cost per km model, using backhaul planning to minimise empty running.
- Own relationships with key accounts, including clients with strict safety, equipment and contractor standards.
2. Operations, Dispatch & Service Delivery
- Lead daily operations, dispatch and trip planning to maximise truck utilisation and on-time delivery.
- Run a weekly operating rhythm driven by the KPI dashboard, acting quickly on variances.
3. Fleet, Maintenance & Technology
- Roll out and manage telematics, fuel control and planned maintenance systems across the full fleet.
- Manage dealer warranty and maintenance contracts, tyre policy and fleet availability.
- Make fact-based decisions on fleet expansion, subcontracting and asset replacement.
4. People, Safety & Driver Performance
- Lead and develop the existing team, and recruit and onboard the drivers and staff needed for the expansion, within the approved lean structure.
- Run the driver KPI and incentive scheme with fairness and consistency.
- Build a strong safety culture and reduce accidents, violations and claims year on year.
5. Finance, Compliance & Governance
- Own the annual budget, monthly management accounts, cash flow and collections.
- Ensure full compliance with TGA requirements (licences, operating cards, WASL tracking, Bayan electronic waybills), the Saudi Labour Law, Qiwa, GOSI and ZATCA e-invoicing.
- Report monthly to the Chairman on performance, risks and decisions required.
Qualifications & Experience
- 15+ years in road freight and logistics, including at least 7 years as General Manager or in a senior operations leadership role.
- Proven track record running a large heavy truck fleet in Saudi Arabia with full P&L responsibility.
- Established customer network within the Saudi transport market.
- Sound knowledge of TGA regulations, WASL, Bayan, the Saudi Governing Laws and government platforms.
- Hands-on experience using telematics, fuel control and fleet management systems to drive decisions.
- Strong commercial, financial and negotiation capability.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field.
