About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Financial Controller to join our Finance function in Saudi Arabia.
The Financial Controller will play a critical role in leading the day-to-day operations of the Finance function, ensuring financial reporting accuracy, IFRS compliance, effective financial controls, timely month-end close, and successful external audit delivery.
This is a key leadership position and will serve as the operational backbone of the Finance function, enabling the CFO to focus on financial strategy, investors, the Board, and other strategic priorities.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on finance leader with strong technical accounting expertise, excellent organizational skills, and proven experience managing complex, multi-entity and project-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Operations & Month-End Close
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes across all business units and entities.
- Ensure the books are closed accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Supervise Finance function heads, including Treasury, FP&A & Budgeting, Accounting, and Financial Controls.
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and trial balances.
- Maintain the Finance calendar covering close, reporting, audit, tax, and regulatory deadlines.
- Oversee intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and consolidation eliminations.
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis.
- Ensure financial reporting is fully compliant with IFRS and audit-ready.
- Lead the IFRS conversion programme in coordination with internal teams and external advisors.
- Maintain consistent accounting policies across business units.
- Oversee project revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS 15, including percentage-of-completion calculations, cost-to-complete estimates, variation orders, and claims.
- Review financial statements before submission to the CFO, Board, Audit Committee, or external stakeholders.
External Audit
- Act as the primary day-to-day interface with external auditors.
- Lead audit preparation, including schedules, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and responses to audit queries.
- Manage the audit timetable and ensure timely completion and sign-off.
- Track and resolve audit findings and management letter points.
- Keep the CFO informed of audit progress, risks, and significant issues.
Financial Controls & Process Improvement
- Ensure effective implementation of financial controls, segregation of duties, and approval frameworks.
- Identify control weaknesses and implement practical improvements.
- Ensure Finance policies and procedures are documented, implemented, and continuously improved.
- Support the development and strengthening of the internal controls framework.
CFO Support & Special Projects
- Coordinate Finance inputs for Board presentations, Audit Committee materials, due diligence, and other external reporting.
- Lead Finance workstreams assigned by the CFO and ensure deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Maintain visibility over key Finance projects, risks, dependencies, and deliverables.
Key Success Measures
- Month-end close by the 5th working day
- Reviewed management accounts to the CFO by the 8th working day
- Unqualified external audit opinion delivered on schedule
- 100% resolution of prior-year audit findings
- Successful completion of IFRS conversion by Q4 2026
- Zero unresolved material Finance control breaches
- 100% delivery of CFO-assigned Finance project milestones
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree inFinance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- CPA, ACCA, or CMA required.
- Master's degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of relevant Finance/Accounting experience.
- Minimum 3 years as a Financial Controller or in an equivalent senior Finance leadership role.
- Experience inconstruction, infrastructure, engineering, contracting, or other project-based industries is required.
- Proven experience withIFRS conversion.
- Strong experience managing external/statutory audits.
- Big 4 audit experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience within a listed company environment is an advantage.
- GCC experience is required; Saudi Arabia experience is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge ofIFRS 15, IAS 16, IFRS 16, and IFRS 8.
- Advanced financial close and reporting capabilities.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, governance, and risk management.
- Strong understanding of project and construction accounting.
- Experience withSAP or an equivalent ERP system.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with financial reporting and close-management tools is an advantage.
