  • Coordinate procurement of required maintenance materials after approval from the Facilities Manager.
  • Help prevent service interruptions by ensuring critical materials and equipment are available.

Role Context The Facility Maintenance Specialist supports the continuous operation of educational buildings and campus infrastructure by coordinating maintenance priorities, tracking repairs, managing technical resources, and maintaining clear visibility of facility performance.

Educational environments require dependable mechanical, electrical, building, and support systems because disruptions can directly affect teaching, administration, safety, and campus operations. The position therefore combines practical maintenance knowledge with planning, reporting, procurement coordination, staff supervision, and technical problem-solving.

Working closely with the Facilities Manager, the specialist ensures that repair needs are prioritized according to operational impact and that maintenance actions are completed efficiently, accurately recorded, and supported by adequate materials and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice to maintenance personnel on repair methods, operating procedures, and facility maintenance standards.
  • Monitor maintenance workmanship and verify that completed repairs meet expected technical and operational requirements.
  • Support preventive maintenance practices designed to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned breakdowns.
  • Coordinate corrective maintenance when systems or facilities experience faults, deterioration, or service disruptions.
  • Oversee assigned technical staff and ensure responsibilities are clearly communicated.
  • Support training and technical development of maintenance personnel to strengthen team capability.
  • Participate in staff evaluations and provide feedback regarding competency, performance, and development needs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and supporting documentation for operational review and audit purposes.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal teams, contractors, and service providers when specialist maintenance support is required.
