Job summary

Atkins Realis Group is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to oversee environmental performance on major building and hospitality developments in Riyadh. You will lead EMP development, regulatory compliance, and audits, guiding contractors and stakeholders to minimize environmental impact.

The role requires 12–15 years in environmental management on large-scale projects, with strong Saudi regulatory knowledge and ISO/NOSP certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, Sustainability or related discipline.
  • Master's degree in Environmental Management or Sustainability preferred.
  • 12-15 years of experience in environmental management on large construction/infrastructure/building projects.
  • Experience on site supervision consultancy projects is highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience in hospitality developments, convention centers, mixed-use developments, large building projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Saudi environmental regulations and international standards.
  • Certifications such as ISO 14001 Lead Auditor/IEMA/NEBOSH CESGA preferred.
  • Experience implementing and auditing Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
  • Experience managing environmental compliance, permitting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in monitoring techniques, reporting, and sustainability practices.
  • Strong environmental risk assessment and mitigation planning.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
  • MS Office and environmental reporting systems proficiency.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the project's Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi regulations, municipal rules, permits, and client standards.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with environmental obligations and procedures.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and environmental assessments for risks and non-compliance.
  • Review and approve contractors' environmental method statements and risk assessments.
  • Monitor waste, air quality, dust control, noise, water, hazardous materials, and pollution prevention.
  • Lead investigations into environmental incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with government authorities and stakeholders on environmental matters and reporting.
  • Prepare environmental performance reports, audit reports, and compliance docs.
  • Promote environmental awareness and sustainability across the team and contractors.
  • Ensure waste reduction, recycling, and resource conservation programs.
  • Monitor environmental KPIs and drive improvement strategies.
  • Support permitting processes and ensure permit conditions.
  • Provide expert env advice in project meetings; review EIAs and mitigations.
  • Collaborate with HSE teams to integrate environmental requirements into safety plans.
  • Support green building initiatives and environmental certification efforts.
  • Manage environmental consultants and subcontractors.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join a Site Supervision Consultancy team overseeing major building and hospitality developments in Riyadh Saudi Arabia The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with project environmental requirements Saudi environmental regulations client standards and international best practices throughout all project phases The Environmental Manager will lead the implementation and monitoring of environmental management systems oversee environmental inspections and audits manage environmental risks and impacts and provide technical guidance to contractors and project stakeholders The role requires extensive experience in large-scale construction projects particularly within complex building convention center and hospitality developments ensuring sustainable construction practices while minimizing environmental impacts

b Your role
  • Develop implement and maintain the project s Environmental Management Plan EMP in accordance with project requirements and applicable regulations
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi environmental legislation municipal regulations permit requirements and client environmental standards
  • Monitor contractor compliance with environmental obligations specifications and approved environmental management procedures
  • Conduct regular site inspections audits and environmental assessments to identify potential risks and non-compliance issues
  • Review and approve contractors environmental method statements risk assessments and environmental control measures
  • Monitor environmental aspects including waste management air quality dust control noise and vibration water management hazardous materials and pollution prevention
  • Lead investigations into environmental incidents complaints and non-conformances and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Coordinate with government authorities regulatory agencies and stakeholders on environmental matters and reporting requirements
  • Prepare and submit environmental performance reports audit reports and compliance documentation to the client and project management team
  • Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives across the project team and contractor workforce
  • Ensure proper implementation of waste reduction recycling and resource conservation programs
  • Monitor environmental KPIs and develop improvement strategies to achieve project sustainability objectives
  • Support environmental permitting processes and ensure compliance with permit conditions
  • Participate in project meetings and provide expert environmental advice during construction activities
  • Review environmental impact assessments and recommend mitigation measures where necessary
  • Collaborate with HSE teams to integrate environmental requirements into overall project safety and operational plans
  • Support sustainability goals green building initiatives and environmental certification requirements where applicable
  • Manage environmental consultants specialists and subcontractors assigned to environmental-related activities
About you
