Job summary

Novotel Hotels, part of the Accor network, is seeking a Duty Manager to lead hotel operations on shift, coach staff, and ensure seamless guest experiences. You will maintain knowledge of all hotel facilities, room types and promotions, while delivering exceptional service and managing high-pressure situations.

The role requires 1–2 years in a similar hotel operations position, proficiency in Opera PMS, and strong leadership and bilingual (English/Arabic) communication.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years in duty manager or similar hotel operations role.
  • Proficiency in Opera PMS and other relevant hotel software.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Knowledge of additional languages is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, counsel and discipline team members to enhance performance.
  • Maintain knowledge of hotel features, facilities, services and hours of operation.
  • Know room types, layout, decor, appointments and location.
  • Track room rates, packages and promotions.
  • Monitor daily house counts and arrivals/departures/VIPs.
  • Know room availability and schedules for group activities.
  • Oversee policies and procedures including LQA and Forbes Standards.
  • On overnight shifts, complete night audit and prepare reports and communications.
  • Assist with check-in/check-out to ensure smooth guest flow.
  • Maintain positive guest relations and anticipate guest needs.

What Will You Do?
  • Coaches, counsels and disciplines team members providing constructive feedback to enhance performance.
  • Maintain complete knowledge at all times of:
  • All hotel features/facilities/services, hours of operation.
  • All room types, numbers, layout, decor, appointments and location.
  • All room rates, special packages and promotions.
  • Daily house counts and expected arrivals/departures/VIP’s.
  • Room availability status for any given day.
  • Scheduled in-house group activities, locations and times.
  • All hotel and departmental policies and procedures/ LQA and Forbes Standards.
  • When on Overnight Shift, proceeds Night Audit, prepares and save/send all necessary reports as requested, checks and searches arrivals’ profiles and input in Opera, and prepares Mondrian Hotel News for all departments.
  • Monitor check-in/check-out process; anticipate critical situations and assist wherever necessary to help alleviate the pressure and to process guests efficiently.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and at whatever time of day.
Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Duty Manager or in a similar hotel operations role.
  • Proficiency in Opera PMS and other relevant hotel software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of additional languages is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.
