Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Engineering Department Head for a luxury hotel in Umluj to lead daily operations, oversee facilities, and ensure reliability of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems.

You will implement preventive maintenance programs, manage the department budget, coordinate with hotel teams, supervise and develop staff, and drive safety, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineering operations in large facilities.
• Budget management and capital project oversight.
• Strong knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily operations of the Engineering Department.
• Ensure maintenance, reliability, and proper operation of hotel facilities and systems.
• Develop and implement preventive/corrective maintenance programs.
• Coordinate with hotel departments to minimize disruption to guests.
• Manage engineering budget, operating expenses and capex.
• Supervise and develop engineering staff; manage contractors and external providers.
• Respond to emergencies and guest-related maintenance issues.

Job description

• Lead and oversee the daily operations of the Engineering Department
• Ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all hotel facilities, equipment, and engineering systems
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs
• Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, environmental, and statutory requirements
• Monitor and control energy, water, and utility consumption and implement efficiency initiatives
• Prepare and manage the Engineering Department’s annual budget, operating expenses, and capital expenditure requirements
• Plan and oversee engineering projects, renovations, refurbishment, and major repairs
• Coordinate with hotel departments to address maintenance requirements and minimize disruption to operations and guests
• Lead, supervise, train, and develop Engineering team members
• Manage contractors, consultants, and external service providers
• Respond to engineering emergencies, equipment breakdowns, and guest-related maintenance issues
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, equipment performance, and engineering projects
• Conduct regular inspections and identify risks, defects, and maintenance requirements
• Ensure engineering works comply with company policies, brand standards, and Saudi Arabian regulations
• Promote safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
• Provide regular reports to the General Manager on engineering operations, projects, maintenance, energy consumption, and departmental performance
• Support sustainability and environmental initiatives and identify continuous improvement opportunities
