Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Contracts Engineer to join our Site Supervision team in Jeddah. The role focuses on contract administration, commercial compliance, variation management and claims review for major transport and utilities projects on site in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The candidate will support the Resident Engineer and Project Director, prepare contractual correspondence, monitor variation processes, and manage risks across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in contract administration and commercial management.
• Strong experience on transport, roads, highways, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Experience with engineering consultants or supervision consultants on major infrastructure projects.
• Extensive experience in Saudi Arabia, preferably in Jeddah/Riyadh or other major KSA locations.

• Review, evaluate, and process variations, change orders, claims, and extensions of time.
• Support the Resident Engineer and Project Director on contractual and commercial matters.
• Prepare contractual correspondence, notices, recommendations, and reports.

• Review payment applications and provide input on assessments and recommendations.
• Maintain records of contractual communications and project changes.
• Assist in resolving disputes and support claim evaluations.
• Identify commercial and contractual risks and propose mitigations.
• Coordinate with project controls, quantity surveying, and supervision teams.

Job Description We are seeking an experienced Contracts Engineer to join our Site Supervision team in Jeddah, supporting major transport, road, and infrastructure utilities projects. The role will be responsible for contract administration, commercial compliance, variation management, claims review, and contractual correspondence throughout project delivery. This is a site-based supervision role requiring strong consultant-side experience within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Responsibilities

• Administer construction contracts in accordance with project requirements and applicable contract conditions.
• Review, evaluate, and process variations, change orders, claims, and extension of time submissions.
• Support the Resident Engineer and Project Director on contractual and commercial matters.
• Prepare contractual correspondence, notices, recommendations, and reports.
• Monitor contractor compliance with contractual obligations and project deliverables.
• Review payment applications and provide contractual input on assessments and recommendations.
• Maintain records of contractual communications, instructions, and project changes.
• Assist in resolving contractual disputes and support claim evaluations.

• Coordinate with project controls, quantity surveying, and supervision teams to ensure consistency in commercial management.
• Provide contract administration support throughout construction and project closeout phases.
• Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and contractors regarding contractual matters.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in contract administration and commercial management.
• Strong experience on transport, roads, highways, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience working for engineering consultants or supervision consultants on major infrastructure projects.
• Extensive experience within Saudi Arabia, preferably on projects in Jeddah, Riyadh, or other major KSA locations.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC and other internationally recognized contract forms.
• Experience managing variations, claims, change management, and extension of time assessments.
• Excellent report writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to operate effectively within multidisciplinary site supervision teams.
• Professional certifications and membership of relevant professional institutions will be an advantage.
• Candidates with predominantly building construction, contractor-only backgrounds, design consultancy design roles, or corporate/head office contract administration experience will not be considered suitable.
