Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Master’s in Nursing or related field desirable.
  • Current RN license to practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for nursing services across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care areas.
  • Develop and implement nursing strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.

Summary

The Clinical Director, Nursing Administration provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing services across the organization. The role is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating nursing operations to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The Clinical Director leads nursing teams, manages resources, develops clinical policies, supports regulatory compliance, and promotes continuous quality improvement.

Education / Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing/Health-related field, is desirable.
Experience Required
  • SIX (6) years of progressive experience in Nursing, including TWO (2) years as a Nurse leader, exclusive of fulltime study period.
  • Senior nursing leadership experience, defined as "Leader" with direct reports (i.e., Nurse Managers/Head Nurses) or multi-unit span of control, or equivalent.
License & Certifications
  • Current and in Good Standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
  • Provide strategic leadership for nursing services across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care areas.
  • Develop and implement nursing strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Lead nursing managers, supervisors, and clinical leaders to achieve operational and clinical objectives.
  • Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence.
  • Participate in executive leadership meetings and organizational planning.
  • Manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor nursing productivity and operational performance.
Clinical Governance
  • Oversee the delivery of safe, evidence-based nursing care.
  • Develop, review, and implement nursing policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
  • Monitor compliance with national regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes and clinical performance.
  • Investigate clinical incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support infection prevention, medication safety, and risk management programs.
Quality Improvement
  • Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives throughout nursing services.
  • Monitor nursing quality indicators, including:
    • Patient falls
    • Pressure injuries
    • Hospital-acquired infections
    • Medication errors
    • Patient satisfaction
  • Analyze performance data and implement improvement plans.
  • Support accreditation activities, including Joint Commission International (JCI), Magnet Recognition Program®, or other applicable standards.
Workforce Management
  • Lead nursing workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
  • Support orientation, onboarding, and competency assessment programs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to nursing leaders.
  • Promote employee engagement and professional development.
  • Address staffing challenges and support workforce optimization.
Education and Professional Development
  • Promote continuing nursing education and lifelong learning.
  • Support specialty certification and advanced nursing practice.
  • Collaborate with academic institutions and clinical educators.
  • Mentor nursing managers and emerging leaders.
  • Foster leadership development throughout the nursing workforce.
Financial and Operational Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance and resource utilization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while maintaining quality of care.
  • Participate in procurement planning for clinical equipment and supplies.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with physicians, allied health professionals, and administrative departments.
  • Collaborate with infection control, pharmacy, quality management, human resources, and finance.
  • Represent Nursing Administration on hospital committees and leadership councils.
  • Participate in disaster preparedness and emergency response planning.
Research and Evidence-Based Practice
  • Promote evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Support nursing research and clinical innovation.
  • Encourage publication and presentation of quality improvement and research projects.
