The role is hiring an experienced BIM leader to establish digital standards, manage federated models, oversee Common Data Environments, coordinate distributed BIM teams, strengthen QA and QC processes, and support project delivery from concept through handover and asset information management.
Role Context
The BIM Manager will lead the digital information framework that connects design disciplines, project teams, consultants, contractors, and Clients throughout the project lifecycle. The position combines strategic BIM governance with hands-on technical coordination, model assurance, information management, team leadership, and digital transformation. By enforcing consistent standards and reliable data structures, the role will help reduce clashes, improve constructability, strengthen design coordination, protect information integrity, and create better-quality asset information for operational use.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain project BIM and digital delivery strategies aligned with Client objectives and project requirements.
- Establish BIM procedures, information management workflows, modelling protocols, naming conventions, templates, and data structures.
- Ensure digital delivery processes comply with ISO 19650, BS 1192, and other applicable information management standards.
- Translate Employer 's Information Requirements into practical BIM Execution Plans, Model Production and Delivery Tables, and project-specific digital protocols.
- Establish model federation strategies, project information structures, coordination processes, and standardized digital environments.
- Maintain and improve BIM standards by incorporating project experience, lessons learned, and evolving industry practices.
- Lead BIM delivery across complex programs involving infrastructure, rail, metro, roads, bridges, utilities, healthcare, commercial, and residential assets.
- Manage coordinated federated models throughout Concept, Preliminary, Detailed Design, IFC, construction support, and handover stages.
- Organise multidisciplinary model coordination and clash detection using Autodesk Navisworks and other approved review platforms.
- Verify that discipline models comply with BIM standards, approved information requirements, model development criteria, and delivery milestones.
- Coordinate architecture, structural, civil, MEP, utilities, transportation, systems, and specialist model interfaces.
- Integrate BIM activities with design reviews, technical assurance, constructability assessments, engineering submissions, and project decision-making.
- Identify model clashes, information gaps, coordination risks, and constructability issues before they affect construction.
- Support asset information modelling and digital handover requirements during later delivery and operational phases.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for BIM and digital delivery matters involving Clients, Consultants, Contractors, and third-party stakeholders.
- Represent Parsons during digital delivery workshops, coordination meetings, technical reviews, and Client presentations.
- Coordinate onshore and offshore BIM teams and maintain consistent standards, quality levels, responsibilities, and workflows across multiple offices.
- Work with GIS specialists to integrate geospatial information with BIM models and support GIS-BIM coordination.
- Explain digital requirements, BIM strategy, project information standards, and technical deliverables to project stakeholders.
- Provide BIM methodology, resource planning, software requirements, scope development, and fee input for bids and tenders.
- Prepare bid-stage digital delivery strategies and respond to Employer 's Information Requirements contained within tender documents.
- Support business development through digital capability presentations, BIM case studies, project experience, and lessons learned.
- Establish model QA and QC procedures covering data integrity, naming, geometry, attributes, coordination, version control, and information completeness.
- Conduct periodic model audits and ensure identified issues are assigned, tracked, resolved, and verified.
- Manage risks associated with model coordination, version control, information exchange, data quality, and digital workflows.
- Ensure controlled information exchange through Common Data Environments such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Oracle Aconex, and ProjectWise.
- Define and monitor access permissions, workflows, revision controls, approval processes, and information status within CDE platforms.
- Assess BIM capability and training requirements across project and office teams.
- Develop and deliver training covering BIM tools, standards, information management workflows, and digital coordination practices.
- Provide technical guidance on Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Navisworks, AutoCAD, CDE platforms, and related technologies.
- Mentor BIM Coordinators, Modellers, Engineers, and technical staff and improve internal digital delivery capability.
- Promote consistent use of collaborative digital processes across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Monitor emerging BIM technologies, automation opportunities, digital standards, and industry practices that can improve project delivery.
- Provide strategic advice to project and senior management on BIM resourcing, digital workflows, coordination strategy, and transformation initiatives.
Ideal Profile
The position requires a Bachelor 's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, with a Bachelor of Architecture particularly relevant to the role. Candidates should have at least 10 years of dedicated BIM management or digital delivery experience within the AEC industry, including substantial responsibility for multidisciplinary infrastructure and complex building projects. Strong experience leading BIM delivery for metro, light rail, rail systems, roads, bridges, utilities, healthcare, commercial, residential, or other major developments is expected. Exposure to international projects and coordination of distributed onshore and offshore teams would provide a significant advantage. The role requires advanced understanding of ISO 19650, BS 1192, Employer 's Information Requirements, BIM Execution Plans, federated model management, clash detection, digital quality assurance, Common Data Environments, and multidisciplinary information coordination. Professional Project Management certification such as PMP is preferred, together with an advanced qualification in BIM or Digital Delivery such as a Master 's Degree in Global BIM Management, Civil, GIS, or an equivalent discipline. The successful professional should combine strong technical knowledge with leadership, stakeholder management, analytical problem solving, training capability, and the ability to manage several high-priority digital workstreams simultaneously.
