Role Context

The BIM Specialist will provide the technical coordination layer that connects architecture, structures, MEP, civil engineering, utilities, airfield infrastructure, and specialist systems within a controlled digital environment. The role supports project teams by identifying clashes, validating model information, maintaining data consistency, and ensuring BIM deliverables are suitable for downstream design, construction, commissioning, and asset management. Strong model governance in this position will help reduce site conflicts, improve constructability, strengthen information quality, and support reliable digital handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Support implementation of approved BIM processes, project standards, workflows, and information management requirements.
• Develop, review, coordinate, and maintain multidisciplinary BIM models throughout design and construction.
• Verify BIM deliverables against the approved BIM Execution Plan, Employer 's Information Requirements, project standards, and information delivery requirements.
• Conduct model reviews covering accuracy, geometry, parameters, naming, coordinates, file structures, classification, and information completeness.
• Federate discipline models into coordinated project models for multidisciplinary review.
• Perform clash detection using approved BIM coordination platforms and classify identified conflicts according to project procedures.
• Manage clash reports, assign coordination actions, track responses, and verify closure of resolved issues.
• Coordinate with Design Consultants, Contractors, Engineers, and technical specialists to resolve BIM-related problems.
• Maintain model coordinates, shared coordinates, grids, levels, naming conventions, parameters, classifications, and file structures.
• Support development and maintenance of BIM templates, libraries, content, workflows, and standardized project resources.
• Monitor model versioning, revisions, exchanges, approvals, and information status.
• Conduct regular BIM model audits and support quality assurance reviews.
• Monitor Level of Development and Level of Information requirements across project deliverables.
• Compare model information with approved drawings, specifications, technical requirements, and design criteria.
• Coordinate BIM submissions through the approved Common Data Environment.
• Maintain BIM issue registers, clash logs, coordination records, audit findings, and model review reports.
• Provide BIM technical support to Engineering, Construction, and site teams.
• Support model-based design reviews, coordination workshops, technical meetings, and constructability reviews.
• Identify recurring BIM issues and recommend improvements to model quality, workflows, efficiency, and information management.
• Support integration of BIM with project schedules, cost information, GIS, and asset management platforms where required.
• Assist Planning teams with 4D BIM applications and sequencing integration.
• Support 5D BIM processes where model information is connected with cost and quantity data.
• Provide coordinated models to construction teams for planning, installation, access, logistics, and field execution.
• Use BIM models to identify constructability issues, temporary works conflicts, spatial constraints, and installation risks.
• Coordinate BIM requirements for airport terminals, support buildings, runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, drainage, utilities, and external works.
• Manage model interfaces between terminal buildings, airfield infrastructure, MEP systems, civil works, utilities, and specialist aviation systems.
• Identify spatial conflicts between existing assets, underground utilities, proposed infrastructure, and new construction.
• Support BIM coordination in congested airport environments and phased construction zones.
• Incorporate operational airport restrictions, access constraints, and construction sequencing considerations into BIM coordination activities.
• Support BIM deliverables associated with testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and final handover.
• Coordinate as-built BIM models with Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Asset Management teams.
• Verify that required asset parameters, locations, attributes, and information are incorporated into final BIM models.
• Support BIM integration with CAFM, IWMS, EAM, and other asset management systems where required.
• Ensure final models are reviewed, approved, traceable, and transferred through the Common Data Environment in accordance with handover requirements.

Ideal Profile

The position requires a Bachelor 's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, BIM, Information Technology, or a related discipline, supported by at least 8 years of relevant experience in BIM coordination, BIM management, digital engineering, or multidisciplinary model delivery. Candidates should have substantial experience working on major construction, airport, infrastructure, or complex multidisciplinary projects and should be comfortable coordinating design and construction models across several disciplines. Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent BIM platforms is essential. Practical experience in model federation, clash detection, model auditing, digital coordination, and information management is required. The successful professional should understand BIM Execution Plans, Employer 's Information Requirements, Common Data Environments, model standards, information delivery processes, and multidisciplinary construction interfaces. Knowledge of ISO 19650 and BIM information management principles is preferred. Experience with 4D or 5D BIM applications would provide an advantage. Previous airport or airfield BIM experience is highly desirable, particularly where coordinated models support complex terminal, infrastructure, utility, aviation system, and operational interfaces.
