BIM Design Engineer - Infrastructure
Location: Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Industry: Civil Engineering. Job Type: Full‑time. Minimum experience: 7 years.
BIM Design Engineer - Infrastructure is a Civil Engineering opportunity focused on intelligent 3D modeling, multidisciplinary design coordination, clash detection, and digital asset information for major infrastructure projects. The role connects engineering design requirements with construction execution by developing and validating coordinated digital models throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual and detailed design through construction, handover, and as‑built documentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and maintain multidisciplinary BIM models from conceptual design through detailed design and as‑built stages.
- Ensure all models comply with the approved BIM Execution Plan, project information requirements, and digital delivery procedures.
- Produce coordinated civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure model content.
- Manage model federation and combine discipline models into coordinated project environments.
- Conduct clash detection using Navisworks Manage and other approved coordination platforms.
- Lead clash‑review workshops and coordinate the resolution of design conflicts with engineering and construction teams.
- Maintain clash registers, assign actions, monitor responses, and verify closure before construction release.
- Review contractor and subcontractor model submissions for geometry, metadata, naming, classification, and information accuracy.
- Audit models against required Level of Development standards from LOD 300 through LOD 500.
- Confirm model compliance with ISO 19650 principles and project‑specific information‑management requirements.
- Perform routine engineering calculations and support the development of technical layouts and design solutions.
- Extract coordinated shop drawings, schedules, quantities, reports, and material take‑offs from approved models.
- Validate model‑based quantities and ensure alignment with drawings, specifications, and design changes.
- Coordinate model revisions with design engineers, project managers, site teams, consultants, and client representatives.
- Support construction teams with model‑based reviews, visualizations, sequencing information, and field coordination.
- Administer BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud workflows for model sharing, review, issue management, and approval.
- Maintain model version control, file structures, naming conventions, and common data environment compliance.
- Use Dynamo, Python, or similar tools to automate repetitive BIM tasks and improve data quality where appropriate.
- Assist with the transfer of verified BIM information into asset‑management systems and digital twin platforms.
- Prepare BIM coordination reports, model health checks, progress summaries, and technical presentations.
- Support project handover by ensuring as‑built models and associated asset data are accurate and complete.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of dedicated engineering design and BIM implementation experience.
- Demonstrated involvement in complex infrastructure, large building, or mega‑project delivery.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, Civil 3D, and BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Strong experience developing and coordinating multidisciplinary 3D models.
- Practical knowledge of clash detection, model federation, issue tracking, and design‑resolution workflows.
- Detailed understanding of BIM Execution Plans, Level of Development requirements, and model‑quality auditing.
- Familiarity with ISO 19650 information‑management standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, design calculations, and construction requirements.
- Experience extracting shop drawings, schedules, quantities, and material take‑offs from coordinated BIM models.
- Familiarity with Dynamo, Python, parametric modeling, or BIM workflow automation is advantageous.
- Strong technical English communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to influence architecture, engineering, contractor, and construction stakeholders.
- Professional BIM management or coordination certification is highly preferred.
- Willingness to relocate to and work full‑time in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
- Previous BIM delivery experience on Saudi Arabian giga‑projects is highly desirable.
- Exposure to NEOM, Trojena, Oxagon, Red Sea Global, or comparable programs is advantageous.
