Job Type: Full-time
Position Overview: Architect - Building Design Management in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is an Architecture and Planning opportunity focused on leading building design development, multidisciplinary coordination, authority approvals, and technical quality from concept through construction. AECOM is hiring an experienced architect to manage complex design packages, resolve building system interfaces, ensure compliance with Saudi regulations, and deliver coordinated, constructible solutions across major projects.
The Architect will take ownership of architectural design development across multiple project stages, ensuring that design intent is translated into technically complete and buildable solutions. The position requires close control of drawings, specifications, interfaces, authority requirements, and design quality as projects move from concept into detailed design and construction. A major responsibility is coordinating architecture with structural, MEP, fire safety, accessibility, and landscape disciplines. Early identification of conflicts and disciplined management of design interfaces will help reduce rework, improve constructability, and protect project schedules. The role will also act as a technical link between design teams, authorities, contractors, and project management. Through structured design reviews, value engineering, risk management, and timely responses to technical queries, the Architect will help maintain quality while supporting cost, compliance, and delivery objectives.
Candidates should hold a bachelor 's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution and have at least 10 years of professional experience in architectural design and building project delivery. Strong knowledge of Saudi Arabia 's building regulations, authority procedures, and Saudi Building Code requirements is essential. Previous experience on projects in Riyadh or other major Saudi cities is highly desirable. The successful candidate should demonstrate advanced architectural design capability together with a practical understanding of construction methods, structural coordination, MEP integration, and building systems. Experience managing multidisciplinary design coordination is important, particularly where complex interfaces must be resolved before construction. Candidates should be comfortable reviewing technical documentation across different engineering disciplines and identifying issues that affect architectural delivery. Advanced proficiency in architectural design software and Building Information Modeling tools is required. Familiarity with BIM coordination and clash detection workflows will provide significant value. Candidates should have proven experience with authority approvals, design reviews, compliance documentation, and structured technical submissions. Leadership capability is also important. The role requires mentoring junior architects, coordinating technical teams, and maintaining consistent design quality across demanding project schedules. Experience with sustainable design frameworks such as LEED, Estidama, or equivalent systems is preferred, along with exposure to value engineering and design risk management.
Riyadh 's continued growth is creating sustained demand for architects who can combine design capability with technical coordination, authority knowledge, and construction-stage problem solving. This role provides the opportunity to influence complex building projects from early design through approvals, tendering, construction support, and final closeout. AECOM also offers exposure to multidisciplinary teams spanning architecture, engineering, sustainability, digital delivery, and project management. For an experienced architect, the role can support progression toward design management, technical leadership, project architecture, or broader multidisciplinary delivery responsibilities.
