Job summary

Astek Middle East is seeking an experienced Android Developer to join our client in Al Qassim. You will build high-quality Android apps using Kotlin, Jetpack, and modern Android tooling.

The role requires strong hands-on development with 5+ years' experience, but 3+ years with demonstrated skills may be considered. Priority will be given to candidates based in Al Qassim, with a focus on scalable, reliable mobile software and collaboration across product, UX/UI, QA, and DevOps teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Android development experience.

• Experience with MVVM or Clean Architecture.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Android Developer to join our client's team in Al Qassim. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience developing high-quality, scalable, and reliable Android applications development using Kotlin and modern Android technologies.

Candidates with 5+ years of experience are preferred. However, candidates with 3+ years of relevant experience may also be considered if they demonstrate strong technical capabilities and practical Android development experience.

Candidates currently based in Al Qassim will receive priority consideration.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality Android applications development.
• Develop Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android development frameworks.
• Integrate mobile applications with RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Participate in application architecture and technical design discussions.
• Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and testable code following Android development best practices.
• Collaborate with Product, UX/UI, Business Analysis, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to development standards and code quality.
• Troubleshoot application crashes, performance issues, and other technical problems.
• Contribute to automated build, testing, and deployment processes for Android applications.

Required Technical Skills

• Professional experience in Android application development, ideally 5+ years; candidates with 3+ years may be considered based on technical strength.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Kotlin.
• Solid knowledge of the Android SDK and application lifecycle.
• Experience with Jetpack and Jetpack Compose.
• Understanding of MVVM and/or Clean Architecture.
• Experience integrating applications with RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Dagger.
• Experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
• Understanding of local data storage and caching mechanisms, such as Room.
• Experience with Git and modern source‑control workflows.
• Knowledge of application security, performance optimization, and memory management.
• Experience with unit testing and UI testing.
• Basic practical understanding of DevOps and CI/CD concepts for mobile applications.
• Familiarity with tools such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Fastlane.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience publishing and maintaining applications on the Google Play Store.
• Familiarity with Firebase services, crash reporting, analytics, and monitoring.
• Exposure to automated mobile testing.
• Understanding of secure mobile development practices.
• Experience working on large‑scale or enterprise mobile applications.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
