We would like to meet a Subsystem Engineer for aHybrid (60% on-site) working model in Oeiras.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Subsystem Engineer specialised in electrical power distribution and fibre optic networks to join a large-scale railway infrastructure project. You will own the design and integration of the UPS, power distribution, cabling, and fibre optic subsystem, acting as the project-wide technical interface for your domain - from design through to installation and commissioning on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Formalise the specifications and engineering plans used to develop the solution/product
- Assemble the solution/product elements to evaluate design, behaviour, interactions and performance, and confirm requirements are fulfilled
- Demonstrate that the solution/product satisfies the approved operational needs and is ready for release to production, testing, installation, and operation and support
- Plan and coordinate subsystem development within the agreed architecture and design, ensuring consistency with customer requirements and company processes
- Act as the project-wide technical interface for your domain, ensuring subsystem interfaces are defined, consistent, and complete
- Optimise technical work against cost, schedule, and risk, from design through to validation and acceptance
- Manage technical requirements within your domain
- Produce Technical Documents, including System Requirements, Design Documents, Configuration Documents, Installation Manuals, Test Procedures, O&M Documentation, and Training Documentation
- Provide technical expertise to Design Reviews with internal teams and the Customer
- Provide technical expertise for the definition of Operations and Maintenance activities
- Perform Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities, including FAT tests, configuration field tests, and on-site commissioning
- Support configuration control and management in conjunction with the Configuration Manager
- Prepare subsystem training documentation and deliver training in your domain
- Capture and capitalise on Lessons Learned
What We're Looking For
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrotechnics Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in CAD Design (an advantage)
- Proven experience in the design and integration of electrical power distribution systems within industrial, transportation, railway, or infrastructure projects
- Experience in sizing and selecting UPS systems, batteries, power conversion equipment, and associated protection devices
- Experience in the design of low-voltage electrical distribution boards, power distribution architectures, and power cabling systems
- Knowledge of electrical calculations, including load assessments, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, cable sizing, and equipment dimensioning
- Experience preparing and reviewing electrical design documentation, including single-line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, and installation drawings
- Experience in fibre optic network design, including topology definition, ring architecture design, and capacity planning
- Experience selecting fibre optic cables, patch panels, ODFs, connectors, splicing accessories, and other passive optical components
- Understanding of optical transmission principles, link budget calculations, attenuation considerations, and network resilience concepts
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple priorities
- Good communication skills, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Good problem-solving skills, with experience developing and implementing customer-focused solutions
- Fluent in Portuguese and English
- Proficient in MS Office Tools
- Strong teamwork competencies
