Job summary

EliteHire in Braga, Portugal, is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join a fast-paced kitchen. You will collaborate with the Head Chef to execute the culinary vision using local ingredients and Portuguese flavors while leading the kitchen staff through high-volume service.

You will develop new menu items, mentor juniors, ensure food safety, manage inventory, and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant setting.
• Creative flair for developing new dishes while maintaining consistency with existing menu items.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
• Knowledge of various cooking methods ingredients equipment and procedures.
• Proficient in Portuguese cuisine with an understanding of local ingredients preferred.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in managing and overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations
• Lead and direct the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef
• Collaborate with the Head Chef to create new menu items and daily specials
• Ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality and meets food safety standards
• Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies as needed
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times
