Job summary

act digital is seeking a Senior Verification Engineer to contribute to the verification of digital integrated circuits and complex hardware designs. This is a remote opportunity within Portugal, open to candidates currently based in Portugal.

You will develop and maintain verification environments, define verification plans, implement tests for RTL designs and IP blocks, and collaborate with design teams to improve verification quality.

We are looking for a Senior Verification Engineer to contribute to the verification of digital integrated circuits and complex hardware designs.

This is a remote opportunity within Portugal. Only candidates currently based in Portugal will be considered.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain verification environments, testbenches and reusable verification components.


• Define verification plans and implement tests for RTL designs, IP blocks and SoCs.


• Perform functional and coverage-driven verification, including constrained-random testing and assertions.


• Run simulations and regressions, investigate failures and support coverage closure.


• Automate verification workflows through scripting.


• Collaborate with design and architecture teams to identify issues and improve verification quality.

What we are looking for

• A solid background in digital hardware verification, ASIC, FPGA, RTL or VLSI, ideally with 5+ years of relevant experience.


• Practical experience building or maintaining hardware testbenches and verification environments.


• Experience with SystemVerilog, UVM, Specman/e or comparable verification languages and methodologies.


• Understanding of functional coverage, assertions, constrained-random testing and verification planning.


• Experience with hardware simulation and debugging tools, such as VCS, Xcelium, Questa/ModelSim or equivalent tools.


• Scripting skills in Python, Perl, Tcl or a comparable language.


• English at B2 level or above.


• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Microelectronics or a related discipline.


• Experience with PCIe, AXI, DDR, RISC-V, SoC or NoC architectures is valued.

You do not need experience with every tool listed. We welcome candidates with relevant hardware verification experience and transferable skills who can adapt to the project's environment.

Location requirement

You must currently reside in Portugal. The role is remote from Portugal; applications from candidates based outside Portugal will not be considered.
