Job summary

Expleo is seeking a skilled SQL Server DBA to manage and optimise SQL Server across VMware and Azure environments, ensuring high availability, security and performance. The role emphasizes automation, CI/CD integration, and close collaboration with stakeholders and vendors.

Responsibilities include daily production checks, incident management, and DPIA/GDPR compliance, with strong focus on documentation and cross-team coordination within an international services context.

Qualifications

Strong hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA with admin, configuration and performance tuning.
SQL Server in VMware and Azure Cloud environments.
HA/DR expertise: Always On AGs, FCIs, log shipping, geo-replication, and backups.
Understanding of SRE principles: SLIs/SLOs, toil reduction, RCA and post-incident reviews.
Good T-SQL skills and ability to optimise stored procedures.
Automation skills with PowerShell/dbatools, T-SQL and Python.
Experience with ITSM processes including incidents, service requests and change management (CAB).
Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) boards for task tracking.
Strong documentation skills (Confluence).
Excellent communication with technical and business stakeholders.
Experience handling PII data and GDPR/DPIA controls.

Responsibilities

Administer SQL Server across on-premises VMware and Azure Cloud environments.
Install, configure, patch and maintain SQL Server instances and databases.
Automate repetitive work.
Develop, review and optimise stored procedures, queries and indexes; resolve performance issues.
Manage backup, restore, security and database health; act as escalation point.
Monitor production health daily and review overnight jobs/batches.
Use Redgate SQL Monitor and Azure Monitor to refine alerting.
Track work through ADO boards; participate in daily stand-ups.
Handle ITSM incidents and changes through to delivery in ADO; own incidents as DRI.
Automate alert management and resolve database incidents; communicate with stakeholders until closure.
Follow CAB governance and DPIA processes; implement changes accordingly.
Integrate database changes into CI/CD (Redgate/SSDT) and build runbooks for remediation.
Support data flows with Azure Data Factory, Dynamics or other ETL processes; advise on reliability and security.
