ITDS Portugal in Lisbon is seeking a Senior Data Scientist & AI Engineer to design and deploy cutting-edge AI solutions for the financial sector, leveraging Generative AI, LLMs, and agentic systems.

You will work hybrid in Lisbon, collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate data into impactful financial innovations, optimize models with RAG and vector databases, and ensure rigorous testing and documentation.

Qualificações

• 4+ years of professional ML/AI development experience.
• Expertise in deploying agentic AI solutions and LLMs.
• Proficiency with Python and ML frameworks (TF, PyTorch, HF).
• Experience with NLP, RAG, and vector databases.
• Experience with cloud deployment and MLOps.

As a Senior Data Scientist & AI Engineer, you will be working for our client, a global leader in AI and machine learning technology, focused on transforming data-driven insights into innovative solutions for the financial industry. Your expertise will drive the development of cutting-edge AI algorithms, including Generative AI models and agentic solutions, shaping the next generation of intelligent systems and contributing to impactful financial innovations.

Your main responsibilities:

• Design and deploy advanced machine learning models and tailored AI solutions that solve real-world challenges.
• Innovate by fine-tuning and extending Large Language Models (LLMs), including open-source and commercial options.
• Optimize AI performance through Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques and vector database integration.
• Analyze data thoroughly, performing exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to maximize model effectiveness.
• Build agentic AI systems, utilizing knowledge of agent harness (memory, storage, state, file system), MCP servers (tools, gateways, protocols), and agent communication protocols (A2A, ACP).
• Apply traditional AI/ML methods such as decision trees, neural networks, and SVMs to diverse problems.
• Collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams including data engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
• Ensure the highest quality of AI solutions through rigorous testing, validation, and documentation.

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in machine learning and AI development.
• Strong expertise in developing, deploying, and optimizing agentic AI solutions.
• Proficiency in working with open-source and commercial LLMs, particularly in Python (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face).
• Hands‑on experience with RAG techniques and vector databases.
• Deep understanding of NLP techniques, models, and architectures.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure for deployment.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills in English (C1 level or higher).
• Willingness to learn French is a strong plus.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Expertise in reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF).
• Experience in Generative AI, including model training, fine‑tuning, and deployment.
• Understanding of ethical AI principles and interpretability of models.
• Fluency in French.

Language Required for the role:

English, with a good command level.
