Job summary

Closer Consulting is seeking a Senior BI/SQL Performance Specialist to join our hybrid team in Lisbon or Porto. You will optimize SQL performance, design dimensional models, and work with Power BI and Tabular Models on enterprise data warehouses.

The role requires 7+ years in BI/Data Warehousing, strong SQL/T-SQL skills, and experience with ETL, Git, and data modeling. English proficiency is mandatory due to international collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in BI Development, Data Warehousing or similar.
• Deep expertise in SQL/T-SQL: writing, analyzing, and troubleshooting complex queries and stored procedures.
• Proven SQL performance optimization: execution plans, indexing strategies, query tuning.
• Solid mastery of data modeling: dimensional modeling, star schemas, fact/dimension design.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise Data Warehouse environments, analytical models, Tabular Models, and cubes.
• Familiarity with Power BI, DAX fundamentals, and ETL processes.
• Proficiency with Git for version control and best development practices.
• Strong communication skills in English for international banking projects.

• 7+ years of professional experience in BI Development, Data Warehousing, Data Engineering, or a similar role;
• Deep expertise in SQL / T-SQL, including writing, analyzing, and troubleshooting complex queries and stored procedures;
• Proven track record in SQL performance optimization: execution plans, indexing strategies, query tuning, SQL engine internals, and identifying bottlenecks;
• Solid mastery of data modeling: dimensional modeling, star schemas, fact/dimension design, data granularity, and advanced schema architectures;
• Hands-on experience with enterprise Data Warehouse environments, analytical models, Tabular Models, and cubes;
• Familiarity with Power BI, DAX fundamentals, and ETL processes;
• Proficiency with Git for version control and best development practices;
• Strong structured problem-solving skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs;
• Good communication skills in English (mandatory, as you will collaborate with an international banking partner);
