Job summary

Closer Consulting in Lisbon is seeking a Senior BI Developer to join the team in a hybrid model. You’ll design and optimize SQL/T-SQL solutions, develop ETL processes, and build dimensional models and OLAP cubes, with Power BI and DAX driving business insights.

The role requires 7+ years in BI development or related fields, deep SQL expertise, Power BI/DAX, ETL, and English fluency. You’ll collaborate with BI and Data Engineering and contribute to scalable, robust data solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in BI Development, Data Warehousing, or Data Engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL/T-SQL with ability to explain query performance.
• Power BI with strong DAX modeling and development experience.
• ETL processes and data warehouse architecture experience.
• Expertise in performance optimization: indexes, execution plans, bottleneck analysis.
• Dimensional modeling with star schemas and cubes.
• Strong understanding of business models and logic.
• Proficiency with Git version control.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

What you’ll do:

• SQL & Performance Tuning: Design, optimize, and maintain complex SQL/T-SQL solutions. Analyze execution plans, implement indexing strategies, and resolve bottlenecks in large volumes of data.
• ETL & Data Warehouse: Develop and manage robust ETL processes in Enterprise Data Warehouse (DWH) environments.
• Data Modeling & Cubes: Build and evolve star schemas, fact/dimension tables, advanced analytical models, and OLAP cubes.
• Power BI & Business Logic: Translate complex business models and logic into efficient BI solutions using advanced DAX in Power BI.
• Collaboration & Scalability: Work side by side with BI, Data Engineering teams, and stakeholders to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
• Best Practices: Apply version control (Git) and actively participate in technical discussions regarding architecture and optimization.

What We’re Looking For:

• 7+ years of professional experience in BI Development, Data Warehousing, or Data Engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL/T-SQL (extensive knowledge is required, and you must be able to explain a query’s performance).
• Power BI & DAX: Hands-on proficiency in Power BI with demonstrated ability in DAX modeling and development.
• ETL & Data Warehouse: Solid experience in building and maintaining ETL processes and data warehouse architecture.
• Expertise in Performance Optimization: Indexes, execution plans, the SQL engine, and bottleneck analysis.
• Dimensional Modeling: Proficiency with star schemas, data granularity, cubes, and scenarios where more advanced modeling approaches are required.
• Deep understanding of business models and logic.
• Proficiency in version control using Git.
• Strong analytical skills and structured problem-solving abilities.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
