Job summary

DataSmart seeks a Senior AI Platform Engineer to design agentic workflows and automation across the SDLC in a hybrid Lisbon/Braga/Coimbra setup. You will build, deploy, and orchestrate AI agents, with emphasis on MCP, tool use, and evaluation frameworks.

This role requires strong Platform Engineering and DevOps background, plus cloud infra experience. You will own internal developer platforms, CLIs, and workflow engines, while improving engineering efficiency and the overall developer

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with senior/lead responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying AI agents in production, including orchestration and evaluation frameworks.
• Strong Platform Engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD background.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript; Kotlin/Go/Rust a plus.
• Experience with cloud infra, preferably GCP, and IaC (Terraform).
• Experience building internal developer platforms, CLIs, or workflow engines.
• English proficiency C1 or higher.

Join our team as a Senior AI Platform Engineer (Hybrid - Lisbon, Braga, or Coimbra)!

What You’ll Do:

• Design and develop agentic workflows, tools, and automation across the SDLC.
• Build, integrate, and orchestrate AI agents, leveraging tool use, MCP servers, and context engineering.
• Implement evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and quality checks to ensure reliable AI-generated outputs.
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and internal developer tooling.
• Integrate AI-powered workflows with enterprise systems, including Jira, source control platforms, and CI/CD tools.
• Develop and enhance internal developer platforms, CLIs, and workflow engines.
• Improve engineering efficiency, software reliability, and the overall developer experience.
• Take ownership of complex technical challenges, evaluate alternative approaches, and drive implementation independently.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including senior or lead-level responsibilities.
• Proven hands-on experience building and deploying AI agents in production, including agent orchestration, MCP, and evaluation frameworks.
• Strong background in Platform Engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript; familiarity with Kotlin, Go, or Rust is a plus.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using Terraform or similar tools.
• Experience developing internal developer platforms, command-line interfaces (CLIs), or workflow engines.
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end SDLC and developer productivity practices.
• Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools in day-to-day software development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, technical ownership, and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher, both written and spoken.
• Availability to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon, Braga, or Coimbra.
