Job summary

DataSmart is seeking a Senior AI Platform Engineer to join our hybrid team in Lisbon, Coimbra or Braga. You will design agentic workflows, build AI agents, and integrate tools across the SDLC to improve developer productivity.

The role focuses on scalable CI/CD pipelines, IaC with Terraform, and orchestration across Jira and source control, enabling reliable AI-powered workflows in enterprise environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with senior/lead responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience deploying AI agents in production, including orchestration and evaluation frameworks.
• Strong background in Platform Engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript; familiarity with Kotlin, Go, or Rust is a plus.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred) and IaC (Terraform).
• Experience developing internal developer platforms, CLIs, or workflow engines.
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end SDLC and developer productivity practices.
• Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools in daily development.
• Excellent problem-solving, technical ownership, and autonomous work capability.
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Integrate AI-powered workflows with enterprise systems, including Jira, source control platforms, and CI/CD tools.
• Develop and enhance internal developer platforms, CLIs, and workflow engines.
• Improve engineering efficiency, software reliability, and the overall developer experience.
• Take ownership of complex technical challenges, evaluate alternative approaches, and drive implementation independently.

What You’ll Do:

• Proven hands-on experience building and deploying AI agents in production, including agent orchestration, MCP, and evaluation frameworks.
• Strong background in Platform Engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD.
• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript; familiarity with Kotlin, Go, or Rust is a plus.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably GCP, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using Terraform or similar tools.
• Experience developing internal developer platforms, command-line interfaces (CLIs), or workflow engines.
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end SDLC and developer productivity practices.
• Hands-on experience using agentic coding tools in day-to-day software development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, technical ownership, and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher, both written and spoken.
• Availability to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon, Coimbra or Braga.
