Job summary

DataSmart in Lisbon is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to design, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and IaC, while improving reliability and efficiency. The role is hybrid in Lisbon, working with cross-functional teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines and secure cloud foundations.

You will troubleshoot complex incidents, monitor Datadog and Azure Monitor, and collaborate with teams in France, applying DevOps and Agile practices to deliver scalable data platforms.

Qualifications

• Senior-level expertise in designing automated infrastructure deployments using Terraform and IaC.
• Proficient in Azure DevOps Pipelines, Boards, Repos, Git and GitHub Actions.
• 4-5 years hands-on experience with Azure services: Storage, Data Factory/Synapse, SQL Database, ML.
• Knowledge of Azure data services: Databricks, Synapse, Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, Event Grid, IoT Hub.
• Experience with Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL Flexible Server and SQL Server.
• Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, AI Foundry.
• Monitoring/incident management with Datadog and Azure Monitor; strong troubleshooting.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or Shell.
• Understanding of AD, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPS, SSL, network isolation.
• Solid Linux (Red Hat) and Windows Server administration.
• Excellent English communication; able to collaborate with international teams (France).
• DevOps principles, end-to-end automation, Agile methodologies in cloud.
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher, both written and spoken.
• Availability to work hybrid in Lisbon.

• Implement security best practices: SSL, network isolation, secure access.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including France; follow Agile methods.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) .
• Develop, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git, and GitHub Actions.
• Automate cloud infrastructure deployments and operational processes to improve reliability, scalability, security, and efficiency.
• Provide operational support for data processing and analytics services, continuously improving automation, performance, and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Level 2 and Level 3 incidents using monitoring tools such as Datadog and Azure Monitor.
• Monitor cloud infrastructure and data-platform workloads, proactively identifying and resolving performance issues and service disruptions.
• Automate standard cloud requests, including cloud account provisioning, service principal management, and SSL certificate renewals.
• Support Azure data ingestion, processing, analytics, storage, database, and AI services.
• Implement security best practices, including SSL certificate management, network isolation, and secure cloud access.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams, including teams based in France, following Agile methodologies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of cloud platform automation, operational processes, and deployment standards.

Qualifications:

• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code: Senior-level expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated infrastructure deployments.
• CI/CD and Version Control: Strong experience with Azure DevOps, including Pipelines, Boards, and Repos, as well as Git and familiarity with GitHub Actions.
• Microsoft Azure: 4-5 years of hands‑on experience with Azure services and components, including: Azure Storage Accounts, Azure Data Factory and/or Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Cost Management
• Data Processing and Analytics: Knowledge of Azure data and analytics services, including Databricks, Synapse, Azure Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, Event Grid, and IoT Hub.
• Databases and Storage: Experience with Azure Storage Accounts, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, and SQL Server.
• AI and Application Services: Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, and AI Foundry.
• Monitoring and Incident Management: Experience with Datadog and Azure Monitor, including troubleshooting and resolving complex production incidents.
• Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python, Bash, or Shell.
• IT Fundamentals and Security: Understanding of Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPS, SSL certificates, and network isolation.
• Operating Systems: Solid experience administering or supporting Linux (Red Hat) and Windows Server environments.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with international teams, particularly those based in France.
• DevOps and Agile Practices: Experience applying DevOps principles, end-to-end automation, continuous improvement, and Agile methodologies in cloud environments.
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher, both written and spoken.
• Availability to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon.
