Job summary

Jobgether in Portugal is seeking a Software Engineer – Storage to help build and scale a high-performance object storage platform. You will contribute across the full stack, from client libraries to storage servers and deployment infrastructure, in a globally distributed, open-source-first environment.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of backend engineering experience, including operating Node.js applications in production.
• Experience designing, building, or operating highly scalable distributed systems.
• Comfort working across the technology stack, including backend application development and infrastructure deployment, monitoring, and scaling.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience with performance tuning, production troubleshooting, and improving the reliability of distributed services.
• Strong practical experience with PostgreSQL in production, including database tuning and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Enhance storage capabilities and analytics storage offerings.
• Optimize asset delivery to improve speed and performance.
• Expand edge infrastructure to accelerate uploads and cache invalidation.
• Improve storage server performance through monitoring and optimization.
• Develop storage exploration tools with frontend teams.
• Improve developer experience with APIs and CLI tooling.
• Strengthen upload/download reliability across clients.
• Contribute to open-source storage components.
• Resolve escalated issues and implement systemic improvements.
• Work across backend, deployment, and service operations.
• Drive end-to-end engineering projects from design to deployment.
