Job summary

Irish Engineering Contractor in Sines, Portugal seeks an experienced Project Manager for mechanical engineering and industrial installations on a major European project. You will plan, coordinate and deliver mechanical installation works, ensuring safety, schedule, budget and quality targets are met on site in Sines.

Lead coordination with contracts manager, site engineers, subcontractors and client representatives, handling procurement, installation through to commissioning and handover.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years' experience in project management within mechanical engineering, industrial construction or process installations.
• Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering packages, industrial pipework, steelwork or heavy engineering installations.
• Experience working with an Irish or UK mechanical engineering contractor is required.
• Strong knowledge of project programming, procurement, subcontractor coordination and commercial management.
• Must have the legal right to work in Portugal and be willing to work on site in Sines.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day delivery of mechanical engineering works on site, ensuring all activities are completed safely and to programme.
• Develop, monitor and maintain project programmes, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective measures.
• Coordinate site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and specialist installation teams.
• Oversee mechanical installation works including industrial pipework, equipment installation, fabrication and associated engineering packages.
• Manage procurement schedules, materials, plant and labour resources to maintain project progress.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, variations and commercial performance alongside the commercial team.
• Liaise with client representatives, consultants and other contractors to coordinate project activities.
• Ensure all works comply with relevant health and safety legislation, project specifications and quality requirements.
• Review technical drawings, method statements, risk assessments and installation documentation.
• Attend project progress meetings and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Identify technical, commercial and programme risks and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, quality documentation and final project handover.

This Irish engineering contractor delivers mechanical engineering, industrial installations and specialist engineering projects across Ireland and Europe, working across the pharmaceutical, energy, manufacturing and process industries.

With a growing pipeline of industrial projects across Europe, they are now recruiting an experienced Project Manager for a major industrial development in Sines, Portugal.

The Role: Project Manager

This is a key Project Manager position overseeing mechanical engineering works on a large industrial project in Sines, Portugal.

You will take responsibility for the planning, coordination and delivery of mechanical installation works, ensuring the project is completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Working closely with the Contracts Manager, site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and client representatives, you will manage all aspects of project delivery from procurement and installation through to commissioning and handover.

The role will suit an experienced Mechanical Project Manager who is comfortable managing site teams, coordinating complex engineering packages and maintaining strong commercial and programme control.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 5+ years' experience in project management within mechanical engineering, industrial construction or process installations.
• Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering packages, industrial pipework, steelwork or heavy engineering installations.

• Degree or trade background in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
